I agree with Manton - the hacking pockets would look out of place on a business suit, especially on a wool I expect would be 8.5 ounces. Â Personally, I think that hacking pockets only look good on a heavier (say 10 ounces and up - I would even go as far as 12 ounce) cloth. Â I've seen some trompe d'oeil lightweight cloths that they would look good on as well, but in general, hacking pockets only on real hacking jackets.
I have two suits with hacking pockets, one is a pretty lightweight worsted, and the other is a 120s flannel that's 280g/m (whatever that converts to, I'm lazy). The hacking pockets have a much better look in the heavier flannel. I wear both of these suits for business on all but the most formal business occasions. However, you may find that you quickly tire of the look. Personally, I doubt I'll get any more suits with hacking pockets.
