Turmeric - Page 2

Hello everyone.
I'm a regular reader of styleforum and have gained a lot of knowledge of style from everyone on this forum.

Yes I'm an Indian and live in India. Apart from turmeric being a main ingredient of indiain food, I take turmeric every night.
Take the powder little less than a tea spoon, add to a cup of milk with one tea spoon of sugar and boil it. You should filter it for the undissolved portion.
Take it half an hour after your dinner or say one hour before bed time.
I'm taking it for past 3 months and have seen benefits for my allergic bronchitis and hair fall due to strong acidity.

Hope that helps,
Regards,
~Green

That depends on to whom you listen for advice. Some people swear by all that, some say that (and all supplements) are bullshit. I'm sure the truth lies somewhere in between. The only way to be sure is have your father try for himself. I started taking my turmeric last night, but I have no liver problems. I'm taking it for anti-inflammatory purposes, and to help my body absorb the nutrients from chlorella (a whole food supplement I take).

If you get milk thistle, be sure it says Standardized to 80% Silymarin on the bottle. Otherwise, I doubt it would be much help at all.

EDIT: I just found this website http://hilmikhouzam.blog.com/2480344/ and it says Omega-3, Southern Ginseng (is it different than normal Ginseng?), and Milk Thistle (Silymarin) all help.

Does anyone know if Milk Thistle (Silymarin) can be bought in pill form at the local drugstore? How do you take it?

Thanks

Some great links to discount vitamin sources: www.swansonvitamins.com www.iherb.com www.luckyvitamin.com (This is my source for supplements.) Best of luck to your dad! edit: swanson has turmeric on sale, you should definitely check it out

I have my wife taking curcumin to slow her memory loss. Is the anti inflamatory characteristic in curcumin strong enough to cause her to have gastritis?
She has experienced nausea for several weeks, and the only thing that is wrong, best that we know, is that she has gastritis. She does not drink or smoke, and the tests for the bacteria that usually causes gastritis has come up negative.
Thanks for any response.

Temporary hijack...what benefits do you get from Chlorella? Just curious. I've read a little about it on the internet but I'd like to hear some personal experiences as well.

PM me if you want to keep the thread on track.

In short, I have never felt so good in my life since I started taking chlorella and spirulina in December. The biggest things I've noticed are massive amounts of energy, and digestion improvements. Much of the literature on them seems like hype, granted, and algae certainly will not cure cancer, but still, its the best supplement I've ever used.

I've been able to greatly enhance my workout routines now also.
