Non-Tesla high-MPG sports car?

I know Tesla Motors is producing an electric roadster, but is any established sportcar company thinking about making a vehicle which achieves Prius-like MPGs?

No. Well, maybe the KTM X-Bow, but high mileage is hardly the focus... In fairness, the Lotus Elise and Honda S2000 are pretty good as it is. A Lotus 7 with a 1600cc Kent motor could get decent mileage. A 1st gen Miata with an VW 1.9TDi motor swap would be trick. Yeah, do that. And post pictures. Or just buy a motorbike. My CBR1000 does Prius mileage all day long. At significantly superlegal speeds.

You won't get prius mileage without superlight weight. I think the Elise and the S2000 are the closest you'll get, unless you get into sportbikes.

If you're just looking for bang/mpg, you can count the 911 Turbo and the Z01 in there too, since I believe they both get around 27mpg on the highway. Not bad for 500 horse.
