I would like you to try standing next to the treadmill, and then setting it at a moderate, but not at all fast jogging pace. Let's say 7.5. Practice standing in place for a while and raising your legs one after another.

Continue this motion, then try it on the treadmill.

Let me know how it works out.

Of course, it could be that you're facing the wrong way. Do you turn around after you hit the Quick Start button? If so, I've got a little secret for you.

Just crank up your favorite cd and dance to it. That should burn plenty of calories and save you a few thousand dollars. Assuming you already have a cd player and a cd.

- you like being able to adjust incline levels for added challenge
- you need to get exercise while staying at home (to watch kids or whatever)

Of course I'll run outside to vary it a bit, but I prefer the treadmill. I find I can guage my progress much easier by having a clock and ability to adjust speed at the touch of my fingertips.

It's a little bit annoying at times (no explosion into the sprint, just a 10- to 15-second speed up), but some treadmills will go fast enough to give you a good, say, 45/1:30 or 1:00/2:00 split or so.

You know it's very strange. If you criticize something, anything, someone is bound to take it personally. Such as "saucemaster." Treadmills are a waste of money and they are not very efficient at cardio. btw, your momma is fat.

Who's taking it personally? I'm just trying to determine whether you're sane or not. It is also possible that when we say "treadmill", you're thinking of something completely different. Like an escalator.

I get the best workouts in airports, man. You can really rack up the miles on those things.

You should see what security does when you start riding rolling desk chairs on them.

This is hilarious.

Your post didn't make a damn bit of sense. Nothing personal.

Security need to work out, too.

Actually, seriously. Most of the airport security people I've seen recently really need to work out.

Yep... either he has no experience with the machine that is commonly known to the rest of us as a treadmill, or he has a very poor grasp of applied physics. Possibly both.

OP: You're doing it wrong.

You know, Newton and Einstein would cringe if they saw this thread.

Try playing with the chair on the moving sidewalk. Then make them chase you. If you explain that it's all for their own good, I'm sure they'll understand.
