Sneak food into movie theatre?

Thread Starter
I admit to occasionally sneaking food (candy mostly) into movie theatres because i can't stand the extravagent prices charged for refreshments. Theatre owners complaint they have to do this because they make so little money on the movies themselves. The food and drink is basically all profit, especially considering the markup. It is not my problem that theatre owners aren't better negotiators against the studios and I shouldn't have to pay for it with high-priced food.

There is a big movie theater chain in South Florida that sells alcohol.

I occasionally bring in a bevarage or snack that the theater does not sell. But I usually also buy their overpriced crap so I don't feel bad about it.

My father used to embarass the crap out of me and my brother by forcing us to sneak food into the theater. Of course, he also would never let the two of us get our own separate order (small or medium) of fries at fast-food joints; we always had to split a large.

I haven't done this and won't. I actually don't like people eating in theaters. Often they eat too loudly, which I find to be very distracting.

Can you not survive 2 hours without eating?

Have you seen Americans (Bovinus americana) today?

There's a great little theater here where they serve food and $3.25 microbrews. I have to admit that's enjoyable.

+1

Sometimes, I gag when I enter a theater and the warm smell of cardboard-popcorn smothered with some petrochem-derivative liquid "butter" has already filled the room... Then, the first 45 minutes of any film are muffled by sounds of hands foraging into two-foot high buckets of shiny popcorn, candy wraps being torn apart repeatedly and people sucking the very last drops out of 50 fl oz cups of soda.

Not to mention the barbarians who sneak smelly burritos and kebab sandwiches into the theater...

Food at theaters should be banned. That's my opinion and I'm sticking to it

My wife has a special bag for sneaking burritos into movie theaters. We eat dinner while we watch.
