Need to get some cards made up and am unsure of how to punctuate my credentials.

Would it be

Mike Jones, M.S.

Mike Jones M.S.

Mike Jones, MS

I think the first example would be correct but am not 100% sure.
Thanks

Is your M.S. directly relevant to your reasons for handing out your cards? I don't put my MA on my cards, however punctuated.

Yes, I'm a therapist at a few sites in the area and want to have a generic business card to hand out to patients. In the mental health field your degree determines whether you are a social worker, counselor, therapist, psychologist or psychiatrist. I guess I'm also taking cues from business cards that have been made up for me by some of the places I have worked which included by credentials without my asking for them to be included or not. dl

Jeez, nevermind. I didn't realize that being a dick was a prerequisite for posting on this site.

Healthcare is very credential driven and people usually put every letter after their names that they can. Usually you will see

Firstname Lastname, degrees (go MS in this case), then any licensing/certification

So:

Firstname Lastname, MD, MPH, FAAFP

Firstname Lastname, MSW, CICW

I'm just playing on your persecution complex, as expressed in the moderation log.

To the OP's question, since it seems that credentialing yourself is indicated in your circumstance (which you could have made clear in your OP, and so avoided the ribbing above), I'd do <comma> M.A.

It wasn't totally no good reason. You laughed at him when he was seeking honest, helpful advice without offering him an answer. The OP overreacted, but it's not as if you were exactly being helpful, was it?

Um, no I laughed at another posters comment. I wasn't laughing at the OP at all, especially since the comment I laughed at was obviously posted in order to make the OP relax and perhaps put him in a more jovial mood. Because he (and apparently you) didn't see it that way, is another matter.

I might be incorrectly presuming here, but you have quoted and laughed at another posters humorous comments, no? I mean from time to time.

Jon.

Yeah, if just one degree, use periods. When you get a string after your name, a period = a characater space, so usually multi-degreed/credentialed people end up going with no periods.
