bulking = gaining weight
cutting = losing weight

It's the fitness way of saying dieting while trying to maintain a false sense of coolness about it.

Its pretty moronic terminology but apparently I'm not clever enough to avoid it.

I tend to use it to specifically refer to losing bodyfat while trying your damnedest to maintain muscle mass... but yeah, it basically just means losing weight.

Uhh, wrong. They both require different diets and sometimes different exercise regimens.
