Tomorrow night:

Invite your friends!
*** 12/8 Generation Obama's "Komputers for Kids" Hope-Giving Holiday Party on Capitol Hill ***

6:00-9:00pm Monday, December 8th
Top of the Hill (upstairs of Pour House)
319 Pennsylvania Avenue, SE, Washington, DC 20003
(Capitol South orange/blue line metro)

So, the big question on everyone's minds is "What's Next?"

We'll start that process before Inauguration Day by recruiting leaders to help build a long-term framework that brings together young people (and the young-at-heart) from groups across the DC-metro area to make that happen in the weeks and months ahead.

Therefore, on Monday, December 8th, Generation Obama invites you to join us for some merriment, networking and a good cause that will further spread hope and change beyond our borders at our "Komputers for Kids" Hope-Giving Holiday Party on Capitol Hill!

For every $200 we raise we can buy a personal computer for a child who needs access to a more hopeful future. How many lives can we touch? It's up to US.

Suggested Donation: $10

Contact: Jim McBride, 703-867-5070, genobamadc@gmail.com
(become a Host by bringing 4 friends or an Organizational Co-Sponsor)

Please RSVP and join our group!

Spirits of the World is an informal, cultural event that invites local diplomatic representatives to share and exchange distinct aspects of their respective traditions. Each embassy is asked to donate a drink that is specific to their country. On this special occasion we will embrace the "lighter side" of diplomacy in the form of first-class drink, good food, rich conversation and familiar faces.

Embassies in Washington partner with the Institute to showcase their national drink and food.

Come enjoy a night of first class entertainment and food and drink.

To RSVP, email Sarah Bishop at bishop@religionandpolicy.org.

I can barely imagine a party I'd less like to attend. Maybe an Arlington Young Republicans party.

I don't want to go either. It's too expensive anyway, but you never know if others want to.

Where do you find all this random stuff? Funny, I did stop by the ethiopian embssy thing you posted a while back. It wasn't bad, I had a few drinks with a friend and then left. There was some potential there...

As for this friday... I don't have a good reason (yet) not to give it a shot. So I'll try to check it out. Do I have to join the group?

You don't have to join, but you can if you want.

My friends, alumni, groups, etc... post events or I hear about things around work. I should post here more frequently but I don't go to everything I'm invited to, some things suck and some things are private.

We should organize an SF-DC happy hour sometime too!

It would be nice if they posted the dress code.

Re: SF-DC Happy hour. I'm always up for drinking. Since this is your thread, you get to organize it if you like.

It's Semi-Formal, but seems like you can wear a black tie too. I'd check out the LNS forums for pics of their prior events to get an idea of how to dress. LNS is the snobbiest group in DC... and that's saying A LOT!

As for the SF-DC happy hour, I'd probably pick something around Gallery Place/Chinatown because it's pretty central on the Metro and there are some pretty good options in the area. I'll start a separate thread for it because it might get buried here.

this would work for me, as i work off 13th and F, however since it's a newsroom my hours are weird and i end up working til 8 or 9 weeknights. i'd be game for a place like old ebbitt grill, chef geoff's, or even bar louie.

...just not rocket bar. i HATE the smell.
