Glasses: frames, sunglasses, prescription, etc - Page 2

The lenses are a separate cost. And those get pretty costly the more bells and whistles (antiglare, invisible bifocals, dimming, etc.) you add on to them.

Oh yeah, of course. What I am asking is, say I buy an expensive pair of frames from some designer, and then take it over to the local optical place to get the lenses replaced. Are the lenses originally in the frames actually worth a good percentage of the price i paid for these designer glasses?

I'm going to get some prescription Wayfarers with polarized lenses, probably within the next month, I'm thinking.

Back from the dead semi-spam, but anyway.

To followup, I ended up going to an eye doctor to get my eyes checked, and then asked for my prescription to be written down on a sheet of paper (instead of taking the hard sell and buying something there in his office).

Then I went and bought prescription RayBans from an online store.

Then I went and got new, stronger, optic lenses for my existing eye-glass frames as well, from Wal-Mart (of all places!).

I have a pair of sunglasses that have a matte black frame. The frames were nicked a few times and the shiny metal shows under. Replacing them is not possible. Any suggestions?

Can anyone help me out here? Will any optician still drill lenses made from glass (not plastic) for rimless glasses? Thank you for your help. David

I am unsure. That said, I have purchased prescription glasses from both Seattle Sunglasses and Sportsvisionbend. Each have extremely knowledgeable and helpful personnel. Each work with multiple sources including Zeiss. I would suggest that you e-mail or call either for suggestions. Good luck.

I don't know of any that will drill glass. There may very well be some, but I imagine it would be substantially more expensive, given the additional time and equipment I imagine would be needed for it.
