I'm new here, so maybe I'm missing something, but mightn't it make sense to put a size on every listing?

Yeah, it seems pretty obvious. Sizes are definitely more important than brand names. What I can't decide is whether it should be a rule or whether the market should decide?

In the title, you mean? If so, the point is good, and I think most folks are in agreement. (The mods already have requested folks use descriptive titles.) But sometimes it's just not possible. I try to include sizes when I can, but if you're selling a bunch of stuff, there's only so much room for description in the thread name. Better to let people click than litter up B&S with multiple threads just to get sizes in each title, I think. There's already a massive turnover rate here -- often a thread will disappear to the second page in only a few hours.

^ I don't think the exact size of everything is necessary. If you put S, M, L, XL, at the beginning most people can figure out if that person's size corresponds to them or not. If you just put S in your title, as a 44L I realize whatever you have for sale won't fit me. L-XL? I'll take a look. Just a thought.

Also, you have to realize that a S Lacoste polo is different in say a S Ralph Lauren polo. Or a slim fit 15.5 shirt, could be the same as a M shirt. Every label varies (well, my experience anyway).

Rules only make more work for the mods.

I like the no free bump rule, but only because free bumps were being abused by a few people. The majority of the forum's regular sellers should have free bump privileges. I am lazy and do not like searching for their threads

Omitting sizing from thread titles has been a long-standing problem but it has gotten better recently. Gratuitous bumping has also diminished greatly since the new rule kicked in. Good work, mods!

I don't know how other people shop, but personally I would prioritize sizes above all other information in the title. And the nice thing about sizes is that they tend to be in a format where you can tell what kind of thing they are for in just a few characters, eg:

FS: 38R, 12D, 32", 15.5/34

I don't think sellers need to worry that much about sizing differing between brands. Since I like my clothes slim, I'll sometimes check the measurements on size 36 jackets, but I won't bother with "38-40". If you're really worried about it, put the measurement in the listing:

FS: 41" chest; >11E; 33" waist

Then I'm either looking for specific kinds of things to fill holes in my wardrobe, or specific styles because I'll always take more if I get a good deal. For example, putting "Zanella" in a title is useless because the various models fit so differently, I'd rather see "slim flat pants" or "quality pleated pants" (this kind of listing will also get more newbie and crossover buyers). The interesting thing here is that sellers have an incentive to add information to their titles if it will increase clicks but not if it will decrease them (although it could be argued that very few "tricked" clicks will end up buying).

As I post this there are 18 thread titles with sizing information and 4 without on page 1 . I don't see a problem.

While I can see your point, I'm not interested in the vast majority of the stuff here, even in my size. If someone's selling a selection of goods from Prada or Varvatos, I don't care that they're my size, and I don't want to have to click a thread to find out that they're from Prada or Varvatos. I have little interest in most of the streetwear sales, and even in some of the most popular Men's Clothing favorites. Ultimately, knowing what type of merch is being offered is more important to me than knowing if it's my size. If the sizing info can be fit into the title, great -- that's ideal. But if not, the right brands will entice me to click anyway. I suspect that's the case with most folks. It's the difference in "Nice shoes in 8.5D, 9D, suits in 42R, 38S, 46L, 52R" and "Tramezza, Lobb, Brioni, Purple Label -- many sizes."

As is customary in all the subfora, the only rules on the buying and selling forum are to ensure that posters show common courtesy to readers. Of course, the more descriptive a title, the more attractive it is to potential buyers.

Not sure if this can be done or not but....

It would be great if you could search within a thread.

For example, the shoe porn thread is over 300 pages long. If one searches for let's say Lobb, said thread is part of the search results but you'd have to go through 300 pages to get info and pics.

P.S. if this can already be done please let me know how.

You can. There is a tab that says "search this thread"
