1 mile and 5k times

Question for those of you who run
Do you have recorded best times for both a 1 mile sprint and for a 5k run? Care to share?
I finally broke through a plateau of mine this evening so I am happy and still have running on my mind hence the question.

When I was a soph. in HS I was a great CC runner. All-state baby!
My best time in the 1 mile was a 4:54, which was pretty good, but not amazing by any means (then, now I'd be lucky to run a 7:30). My best 5k was a 16:44. I missed the elusive 16:30-club . Still extremely satisfying for me though, and I wish I were back in that shape.

Congratulations on the plateau! Sometimes there is nothing better than a PR.

Ever ran a marathon?

I ran a mini, but never even got my time b/c that's not what I was ready to worry about. I was just happy to finish a mini.... then I sort of gave up running and now look at me. UGH!

which Ironman did you complete? I have a couple of good friends that I train with in cycling that compete in Ironman's... I always say that triathlon would be a great sport if it was not for the running and swimming portions...

I stick to pure cycling, but am in awe of elite level triathletes... or even one's that can complete sprints....

I'd like to do a marathon before I'm 30. I met a guy who trains people for marathons at a bar one night. He said something to the effect that if the pain doesn't physically immobilizes you, keep running.

Great track...
Great time!!!

well done (not that some anonymous person complimenting you on the internet actually means anything) but I think even finishing an Ironman is pretty incredible. Doing it in a respectable time is even more impressive...

I was very happy with my results. At the time I was only 22 so pretty young for Triathlon, let alone racing the Ironman. I had myself coming in somewhere around 14-15 because I knew my first time I would just melt down in the second half of the marathon. Luckily my Dad got bored of Taupo and decided to come to the finishing lane at about 12:15 into the race so when he heard that I was rounding the corner he has to hurry up and get the camcorder on.

My finishing photo face is priceless....it's a half smile with an utter look of relief and exhaution

I thought I had that scanned too. I'll try to ater.

1 mile sprint? lol... mile is a distance event for me (I ran 100/200 in HS) Anyways, 5:13 best.

To answer the original question mile was probably about 6:25 and 5k 20:00

ok, I really don't want to turn this into SoCal worship (THAT would not be healthy...) although I am getting pretty good at the thread hijack...

but that is a sweet bike as well (I ran a bicycle shop for 5 years before attending law school, so I know a little about it...)

Griffin Vulcan with 650c Zipps (unless those are 700c, and you are really tall, but I don't think that is the case) ... that is a nice ride!

Do you still get out and ride a bit? I can't imagine NYC is too friendly for riding a bike around... although the last time I was there I saw some pretty sweet rides in Central park. They did not look they were doing much riding, more like showing off their bikes and pro-team lycra...

I rode a Trek 5200 (dura-ace, etc, etc) across Canada for charity the summer of 2005... 7300km's in 60 riding days... I guess that counts for the "distance" you were referring to...
