Washing Pantherellas

Having recently purchased several pair of merino Pantherella socks from two fine sellers on these boards, I am now faced with washing them. They are the first merino socks I've owned and as I would never think of machine washing any of my merino sweaters, I'm wondering if the same is true of the socks. Hand wash only? Line dry? Or will they hold up to the washer and dryer without becoming the best socks my 7 and 8 year old nephews have ever owned?

I'm sorry, your thread title sounds like something out of Winnie the Pooh.

I have many pairs of merino wool Pantherellas and they last a long time if you simply wash in the washing machine in cold water and air dry. From time to time they end up in the dryer and they are still, OK. They really aren't very delicate. Its one of the reasons I like them.

Thanks, that's very helpful to know. I'd also like to know how I wound up posting this to the B&S forum. Mods please move to Men's Clothing, if you would. And your right mack, it does sound like it could be a chapter from Milne.
