My favorite guitarist is Mike Campbell of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. He is a truely underrated guitarist. He inspired me to start playing and got me hooked on rickenbacker guitars.

No, we actually went out briefly, so clearly not a lesbian!

Did this thread get this far without mentioning Fripp or Belew? I dislike King Crimson but the solos those guys did for Bowie, Eno, Talking Heads, etc. are classic.

James Williamson and Ron Asheton created some of the best hard rock hooks ever in the Stooges.

My personal favorites all come from Manchester: Vini Reilly, John Squire, Johnny Marr and even old Bernard Sumner.

That, or the fact that she went to Europe for a semester and then transferred to Michigan State

Isn't the accepted definition of lesbian any girl who wouldn't go out with you in college.

+1, a guitar god then.

Listen to his playing on John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers first album, it is a revelation. Personally, he went downhill on a steady rock diet.

I have never picked up a musical instrument in my life but I always think John Frusciante sounds amazing. As he has not been mentioned in 5 pages I am guessing he is probably not as good as I think he is.

I think Ani DiFranco is an incredible guitarist.
