Because you spend $ on clothes, - Page 2

Stopped playing golf, don't smoke, no DSL, no cable TV, shittiest car in the world, currently single. Come to think of it, I spend a grip of money. Clothes, clubbing, alcohol, and triathlon are the usual suspects.

fortunately i earn enough feed my clothing habit without having to sacrifice anything else..however,from a practical standpoint i've probably long ago reached the point of saturation..i buy now purely because i see things i like and since i can afford( but not always need) them i buy..accordingly i have to rationalize the purchase to my wife..for instance another white shirt addition because of some slight fabric nuance or collar style furthermore i don't gamble or go out with other women..

Personally, I have always liked the idea that I could pack up every material thing I cared about in a suitcase and be ready to move in under half an hour.
I've moved so much in the past four years between places college-internship-summer school-home not to mention short trips here and there that I kind of don't feel like I have a sense of home anymore. I stay on the northern border of the Upper East Side NYC now, living with very minimalist furniture -- my walls are all white, my sheets and comforter are white. I think they look good with my beech colored bedframe, parquet floor, and halogen spotlights. As for cookware, I only have two places, a bowl, a knife, a fork, and a spoon. The kitchen electronics came with the apartment.

I don't spend much at all on food (I never eat at expensive restaurants, except occasionally on dates) and I drive a pretty cheap car relative to my income. I also spend much less on alcohol than I did in college & law school. Most of my discretionary income is spent on travel, clothes, and books, in that order.

I spend on travel, wine, food. I may be spending more on clothes just recently. But I try to reduce my "disposable income" to a minimum by "paying myself first" (automatically investing a big chunk of my earnings before I spend it elsewhere...)

I cut back on drinking and going out. When i first got out of college, I was going out three times per week. Now I rarely go out three times per month. I also don't have a girlfriend right now. So in short, I live a very boring life to support my clothing habits.

I bring my lunch to work, drink rail alcohol when I go out, don't read books, and "forget" my wallet on dates. Just kidding about the last one.

I totally gave up my cocaine addiction. If you're really interested in some "interesting traits" of forum members, you might want to check the poll about our income level, the poll about our ages, and the poll about how much we pay for suits/shirts/shoes/whatever. The average Style Forum member may not have a six figure income, but then again, the average Style Forum member doesn't pay more than $1000 for a Brioni.

My memory does not serve me correctly. Where is this poll, Alias-sama?

I avoid cabs, rarely do the fine dining thang, and get my dvd's at the library. Plus I quit smoking and drinking . I still like to travel when I can -

l have expensive tastes across the board. l love expensive furniture, linen, cars, audio equipment. The two things l really skimp on are: underwear & food. l will not pay for restuarant meals, supermarket food or take-away. Food is a waste of money, l grow my own usually. P.S: (almost forgot), l don't spend much on travel because l am a really bad traveller. l get car sick, plane sick and boat sick. Travel is almost impossible for me.
