What is beauty? - Page 3

Okay, I take offence to that. I'm a white man, and while I have a thing for all women (especially Persians) I find myself constantly dating Asian women. They repersent themselves in strong numbers in places I frequent so I guess I'm just taking what I can get, but I do think I have a thing for Asian women.
Of course, I have nothing against interracial couples of any type. But I have noticed a *lot* of white guys who are into Asian girls seem to have preconceived notions about them and the Asian cultures in general. I especially find it freaky when these guys are also really into martial arts, Eastern philosophy, etc... I'm not saying that this is always, or even generally, the case. BTW, a loot of Asian women worry about this issue as well. It's not just me. On a related note, I have black friends who sometimes wonder about the motivations of the white women they date.

LA guy, I understand your point, but it is a fine line. I used to always feel strange about Arab friends who dated jewish girls, because I knew that they would never marry a jewish girl, and they would totally freak out at the idea of a jewish guy dating an arab girl - they basically did it for an experience, usually. on the other hand, I always felt guilty because I figured that deep down there was an undertone of racism involved.... so it is a complex issue. There is some scientific base for the idea that many people are attracted to the exotic as a way to broaden the genetic pool. I have noticed that some of the most mind blowingly sexy women in the world come from places where races overlap, or are of mixed genetic heritage.

I agree wholeheartedly on this point. Hungarian and Brazilian women are my personal frontrunners for the "most beautiful award" (Gisele Fan). I'm also a fan of Goan ladies (a state in western India with a Portuguese influence).

My personal experience is that more educated and more urbane women are generally more willing to date men of different and/or diverse ethnicities.
I think this is true among Caucasian women, but less applicable to Indian, Jewish, and even African-American women.

Maybe *somewhat less applicable", but not in my experience.

That was my 2000th post? Damn, can't show it to my fiancee. Great forum, j. A Harris, you're going to have to to better to get the Isaac Asimov Award.

I don't think Hungarian women are of a mixed genetic heritage, Hungarian is a very rare language and that race seems to breed relatively true in my experience. My best friend is Hungarian and I have spent a fair amount of time in Budapest.

I always thought Hungary represented the melting pot of Indo-European geography.  There's a nice mix of Tartar, a little Slavic, and, more recently, maybe even a little Germanic floating around in their features. EDIT: Nix the German, those were probably German tourists the last time I was in Budapest.

I love women from all ethnicities. I'm so sick, however, of the stereotypical 'American hot girl". Blonde hair, lots of makeup, shops exclusively at Abercrombie, and they all look like they came straight out of a mold. I like girls with some sort of 'exotic' or different quality to them. Something that sets them apart in a good way. European women are very beautiful to me. Beauty also lies in one's eyes. Personality is also incredibly important, most of the 'american hot girls' are severly lacking in this department, and while they may be fun to hang out with, the lack-of-depth is a big turn-off. I'd love to date an artist or musician.

drzt, I think that he poster was refering to the not so recent history. hungary is where the people who came out of asia on horseback ran into the people who lived in the forests of western europe, if you go back far enough. like the balkans, it is a buffer state between europe and asia. that is actually why the language is not related to other european languages, because it is an outpost of a distant genetic line. in more recent history, it was on the border of the germanic (and catholic) holy roman empire and the (orthodox) slavs.
