I've loved Margiela for years. Anyone who doesn't like jeans and is looking for a casual, non khaki chinos alternative that is machine washable, try Margiela pants. In fact, I endorse all his stuff, including his suits. I would say (and this is not original) that his style is essentially "grad student chic", sort of a sophisticated take on a very casual, nearly academic look. His basics (t-shirts, casual pants, sportsjackets, are amazing. Cool and modern without being too far out there.) Only C.P. Company and Dries van Noten, and to some extent Junya Watanabe and pre-Prada Jil Sander, IMO, come close to his use of fabrics.
