Cant keep eyes open, always tired - Page 4

I have no idea why people are dragging politics into this, it has nothing to do with the OP's issue. I don't care where you are, if it's an emergency, he could go to an emergency room or urgent care facility, call a myriad of other doctors (I'm sure his country has more than 1), or pay someone out of pocket.

If he was in the States and had no insurance, what would you tell him then? Tough luck, screw you... the visit will be $350, another $250 for the one test which won't tell us anything so we'll need to run more and see you again in a few days to do it all over... oh and that'll be $150 a month for your meds. Yup, that'll work better, right?

If (when) we get universal health care, you do realize that the doctors, hospitals, and equipment here right now won't vanish into thin air.

My Optometrist is really good, I've been seeing her since I was like 5 and I have really good health insurance... yet it takes me 9 months to get an appointment. Her office won't even try to help meet my travel schedule let alone an emergency.

I haven't read the whole thread yet but I wanted to respond anyways. I went through the same thing one summer when I was working a labour job. By the end of the summer, even my boss asked me if something was wrong. I was so tired, withdrawn, yawning all the time and I ended up losing about 20 lbs in 2 months. I wasn't overweight either and didn't need to lose any weight. I ended up going to the doctor and he didn't really give me much advice. He ran some tests for anemia and diabetes and everything came back okay.

I ended up really paying attention to my diet because it was the only thing I could think of. After really paying attention and counting my calories, I found out that I was only eating like 1800 calories a day. That little food, combined with working in the sun for 8 hours a day, was wearing me down. I always thought that I was eating quite a bit more. After I started eating better, my energy started to return.

I'd suggest looking into that so you can rule it out if that's not the case.

Do you know if you snore when you sleep? If so, you might be suffering from sleep apnea. Some cases are so severe that in a full night's sleep, you only actually get about 15 minutes' worth. It causes your breathing to stop so your body has difficulty reaching the deep REM stage. If you suspect this is the case, then maybe you could try those breathe rite strips that go on your nose like the athletes wear. It might help. It might not.

If he has sleep apnea breath rite strips will do nothing for it.

Sounds like it could be Magnesium deficiency. I speak from experience. Try going to a health food store and getting a good magnesium supplement, one with no calcium. Take 400mg twice a day. If that's your problem, you will get very quick results (within a day or two) at a very low cost. But buy a good supplement, not the cheapest.

If that's the problem, you are fixed. If it's not, you haven't risked much.

JW Liberty, why not combine calcium or zinc w/ magnesium?

Unless your nutrition is excellent, there is no sense in assuming there is any other cause.

To the OP.

When I read this title I just had to click. For as long as i can remember I have been tired, can't stay asleep longer than an hour or two, and pretty much feel like a walking zombie all the time.

I'm 25 now and finally decided that i should actively seek a solution for the problem last year. First thing the doctor did was put me on anti depressants even though I explained to him the only thing that really bothers me is that I'm tired and fatigued all the time. I tried several brands and I couldn't tell when I was on it from when I was off it so I stopped.

I've tried sleeping aids such as Ambien, Ambien CR, and Lunesta and I can pretty much eat those like candy without much effect. If it did put me to sleep I would still be awake an hour or two later.

Dr. even prescribed me Adderal becuase he thought maybe I was too anxious and this would cause me to not sleep well and therefore feel fatigued all the time. All that did was make me very jittery for a few hours and then give me a headache shortly after.

I insisted I have blood work done as people have told me that I might have a thyroid problem, diabetes, or some other deficiency but everything came back in check.

I exercise regularly and have even tried watching what i eat but still no luck. I even stopped exercising to see if maybe that could be the problem.

I have done some reading on Chronic Fatigue Sydrome and all the symptoms they list are pretty much spot on for me. In the description it also says there is really no solution except Anti-Depressants to help with mood but that didn't work.

I've pretty much stop trying to figure out why or what's causing me me to be so fatigued all the time and just decided to make the best of how I am feeling at the time.

Sorry for the long reply but it was nice to see someone else feeling like I do.

I am also 25 and suffered from this for years. In the past 2 years I have significantly improved. I am not sure if the connection is causual or coincidental but I have WAY more energy when I do yoga 4+ days per week and eat all natural foods on a peleolithic diet. I also quit eating bread entirely. Now I don't nap any more and I sleep much better.
