I am pretty sure a cobbler can put a layer of rubber on the heel to heighten it without any problems.

Ok thanks!

First pair of PS. Have to say I love them. I think they are Nash in cordo. Can anybody tell me how I can protect these shoes? I have Obenauf Heavy Duty LP and Obenauf Leather Oil. Can anybody advise on what to use? I notice the leather is shiney and prone to creasing. Guess there is no way to avoid this? Thanks

Nice shoes.

Note that they're cordovan the color and not cordovan the leather (i.e. horse butt).
I've got some cordovan Ricards and treat them the same as other calf shoes.
Use trees to minimise the creasing.

What's a good price for Starrs? $379 at Barneys a deal, or is there somewhere else to look?

They have the Ricard in suede for $439 by the way...

I have a pair of plain toe laceups in the cordo leather, and yes after some wear it really creases, in a way that is kind of distracting, because the leather is hi-shine the creases just look more apparent. In contrast, something in the dip dye leather doesnt really show creasing as much because the leather is so soft and supple. The brogues look great, I wouldnt overthink care, just polish with kiwi cordovan or something similar. But prepared to have them crease up quite a bit

Ahh hearing that makes me not wanna wear the shoes. Hrmm all I have is Heavy Duty LP and Obenauf Leather Oil, which I used for my regular leather sneakers. Would that be sufficient? I will probably use the Heavy Duty stuff.

anyone know anything about new shoes coming for mid-season?

i stopped by a couple of local PS shops and they told me they were running low on shoes, expecting new styles in a month.

i need a black wingtip and i'm wondering if i should buy the starr now (seeing decent sale prices at dept stores, but still full retail at PS stores) or hold out till new styles hit the shelf.

seems like there are very few black, brogued, wingtip bals on the shelves now. maybe cause it's spring/summer and black shoes don't sell well, but i did the rounds at department stores today and the choices are slim. (perfect excuse to order some custom color edward greens, right?)

also, none of the local stores stock (or had really even heard of) the PS scala.

wonder why?

The Neiman Marcus in my area has a bunch of black Nash's on sale at 30% off right now.
It's my favorite wingtip in the PS collection, I am kind of biased though as it is the only one that fits me.

Rub shoe conditioner on them with a cotton cloth let air out, then repeat. Don't polish them afterward.

This usually is fairly effective in getting rid of the top shine layer on factory finishes.

my local barney's didn't have my size.

here's a question: when you order from barney's online, do you think they convert the sizes to US?

i.e. if i wear a PS UK 11, i should order a 12. right? other shoes that are in euro sizes are listed in US sizes, so I assume it's the same for PS, but that whole british one size difference thing throws people off frequently.

the website says nothing about it, i emailed them but haven't heard back.

Barney's lists US sizes on their website.
They actually answered my email with that question a long time ago.
