the problem I have with not washing denim is the fact that it stretches and I know that I should probably size down but I've already bought some jeans and I thought there has got to be a way to shrink them back without losing color. can I just spray them down with water and then simply throw them in the dryer? if spritzing them down is not enough how about just dunking them in water to get them completely soaked? will this work? will I still lose color this way?

The big problem with this is that if your jeans are dirty at all, putting them in the drier is like putting them in a germ incubator. They'll stink.

You probably will not lose color but your jeans are just going to stretch out again. You are definately right when you said that you should have sized down.

if they´re quality jeans, they wont loose much color in a wash. otherwise, soak em in the tub a couple of hours and hang dry...

yes if i feel im not ready for a wash, i soak them in lukewarm water for an hour or so then hang dry (takes a day or so)
the denim feels cleaner, smells nicer, and tightens up a bit... good to go for another 3 months

Could always dry clean them? If you do put them in the washing machine turn them inside-out, this way the color will bleed into the jeans.
