I'd suggest seeing what the last is for the shoe you're interested in and doing a search. Some Alden last run more or less true to size, and some run a full half-size large (that is, I'm normally an 11.5 but take an 11 in some Aldens).
Alden of Carmel has a description of the fit of various lasts that I find accurate for sizing Barrie and Van lasts vs. the Aberdeen. I have no experience with their other recommendations. Here is the site:
Hmm the brown suede bals look tempting, but many others recommend C&J or J.M. Westons instead. I can see why, the Hampton last doesn't look quite as elegant. Are the Aldens worth it at $255 ?
