I think you know a drinking problem when you see one. I don't even think 10 drinks in a week is excessive if you're spreading them out correctly (consider following age 50+ medical advice of a glass of red wine a day, that's 7 right there). 10 drinks in a night, or 5 each on nights before work where it actually affects you the next day, that's a problem.
I like what alcohol does to me up to a certain point about 5-6 drinks in, and I've gotten very good at never getting past that anymore. I actually drink more regularly (probably the same in total volume, less binge episodes) than I did in college because I've found so many more kinds of alcohol that I like. Also, I can now actually afford many of those kinds.
