Pair white shoes with a white belt for the "full Cleveland".
And remember, both the belt and shoes should be patent leather. Best worn with Sansbelt polyester double-knit pastel-colored slacks, a Banlon shirt, and a white cap.
No sun ,no deep south ,no sunny beaches ,no white shoes..Simple as that...
You will look a pimp ,a reject from Miami Vice or very camp if you do wear them in the wrong context......
I remeber a guy in Mayfair trying the D&G white laofers with massive sunglasses...Not working at all for me..
No-one's saying that you can't get white shoes wrong (D&G was the hint to me). I think that the suggestions above - especially Vannevar Bush - show the way to do it right.
This is a 'street' shoe, but you could wear the light grey pants, even with a glen plaid pattern, and set them off against white shoes.
My personal preference is to wear white shoes with grey, over black, but that is mainly because I don't wear black, as much as possible.
Those look very shiny and white , like Hollywood teeth. Too bright for me. I just bought a pair of nubucks from Paul Stuart in a beige, sand color , ( posted about them last week).

So someone decides to splurge on a pair of shoes because he has the balls to try a li'l funky footwear, and at least 2/3rds of the dudes on here say. . ."NO. DON'T. EVER."
F ya'll.
Blue trousers, grey trousers, khakis, seersucker suits, slim fit jeans and a myriad other options. Wear them like you know something the others don't (think: Jeff Spiccoli) and have fun.
