My Haul at the AE Sale

The semi-annual sale is on at the AE outlets. I scored a couple pretty sweet deals. I got a pair of the Delrays in the brown suede for $140, and a pair of the Leeds in shell cordovan (burgundy) for $305. Closeout styles, including the Mora, are going for $140.00.

I also scored a brown tobacco suede belt for $59, marked down from $109.

Sweet, I'll have to look for the Mora here.

When does this sale end?

Also, will outlets do phone orders?

I am not sure when it ends. Call the AE outlet in Burlington, NC, and ask for Mark. If there is any way he can do a phone order I'm sure he'll do it. He's done it for me. Just google "allen edmonds" and burlington, and you should get the hit. If you have trouble finding it, let me know.

Hey Lawman, thanks. I jumped the gun and called the AE outlet on the other side of my state moments after posting my helpless clueless question above. I didn't want to drive three hours to check out the sale, so I thought I'd call and find out myself. Sure enough they were happy to take a phone order. In about 90 seconds I scored a first brown calf Mora, a shoe I've wanted for years, in my not-so-common size for $160 and tax ship change. Thanks a ton for the heads up.

Just scored a brown calf Mora for myself

Yeah, I'm going in for some Moras as well.

I also just called one of the outlet stores in Wisconsin (on the assumption that they might know more there b/c they're closer to the mother ship?) to ask about some of their outdated boots. The lady helping me looked up several of the old boot models, with very little success. I had her look at the Dundee (discontinued in 02), the Stanford (07), the Andover (01), the London (?), the Brantley (?) and the York (04). She was able to search system wide, and only came up with a couple of Dundees in 6.5 and 7 and a Brantley in 12EE, so they're going to be mostly found on ebay from here on out - which I'm sure you all already knew, but I just figured I'd see if I could get lucky. Also, the Taunton just got discontinued at the end of 07, so there should be plenty of those still running around.

And if you haven't seen them, check out Tarmac's new boots on the Shoe Damage thread in the Clothing section - a suede wingtip boot. No idea what the model is.

Oh, and the nice lady I spoke with did confirm that the Soho will soon come out in brown rather than just the black and cognac that are out now - so we've got that going for us, which is nice.

I'm in Canada. If someone can get one, I'll take a Mora in brown calf size 12D for cost + a reasonable buyer's fee.

Will they not ship to you? I ordered from Helen at the Jeffersonville, OH location phone (740) 948-9033 and they ship in the US. It might be worth a call to see if they will ship directly to you.

Jared, when I go to pick mine up, I'll see what I can do.

I just talked to Penny at that store and she said they can ship to Canada! She said they don't do so very often but seemed pretty confident about getting it done. Thanks for the tip!

Good. I hope they're able to finalize it for you. Being a factory store it would seem silly for them to turn down sales over something like that, but I guess given the nature of customer service these days it wouldn't be a shock. I'm glad they're able to do it.

I mean, I'm in Detroit and they'll ship to me. You have to go south from Detroit to get to Windsor, Ontario, so Canada's actually closer to them than Detroit is, right? Logic would dictate that they'd HAVE to ship to you.

Haha, if only the postal services thought the way you do. Penny actually said that most of their Canadian customers get things shipped to somewhere near the border and transport it across themselves, I guess to avoid duty. Given the prices they're currently charging for these and the exchange rate these days, I can't see that being worth the hassle unless I actually lived in Windsor.

Actually, getting AE's sent to Canada should result in no duties as AE is made in the USA, and good ol' NAFTA allows free trade of items manufactured in the USA.

I posted the 'duty' charges on a recent purchase made from AE (factory store, but retail store should be the same deal) HERE

Of course, YMMV, but paying $2.08 in GST/PST, no tax, and $109.99 + $40 shipping is a pretty sweet deals IMO, especially with the dollar at parity. The same shoes at a Canadian retailer were $375-410.
