nobody else?
I am leaving Atlanta 18/11/04. Arriving Paris the next day and will spend 8 nights at the Hotel Vernet, in the 8th arrondissment, one block south of the Champs-Elysees. I can do it for you. Ken Pollock
Wonderful Ken. I am in.
I will be very sleepy on 19/11, then on 20/11, 4 friends are coming over from Germany to spend the day with us. But from after noontime on 21/11 (when our friends leave), I can meet you anytime, to deliver the box. A good spot may be at the cafe Fouquets, a famous cafe/restaurant on the Champs-Elysees. See http://www.lucienbarriere.com/localiz....om=hall If you confirm that this is good and pick the date and time, I will order the box. My wife and I are looking forward to meeting you and any other Paris-based forum members that can possibly join us.

Don't worry, if you buy the box, I will take it. I can give you USD or EUR (= better for both of us as nobody would pay the exchange fees.) Le Fouquet's? Why not... Are you going to eat there? This is a world famous place but for the price I guess you can find better. I could give you some good adress for shopping or eating if you want. If you want, I can also come to your hotel as it seem to be a very nice one with a beautiful lounge. I have a friend who like to talk in English and who lived 1 year in Canada, may be I would ask her to come. As you can see I speak english after a fashion (does it mean something???). What do you think about my box? Good deal? Good quality? Is this brand famous? I have 15 pairs of cufflinks so I need a box.

I have ordered the box. It is a lovely one and seems to be a good buy. You are right about Le Fouquet's cafe being expensive. My wife had a Coca Cola there 15-20 years ago for 35 FF. Since our hotel has a nice lounge, we can meet there. I am posting info about it for other forum members. http://www.hotelvernet.com/public/salon/us_index.htm and http://www.hotelvernet.com/public/sa...m?photo3_2.jpg and http://www.hotelvernet.com/public/sa...m?photo1_2.jpg Just let me know when you would like to meet. We look forward to meeting your friend too, as well as any other forum members who can join us. Although this is our 24th trip to Paris (our favorite city), I can assure you that your English is better than my French. This email is to confirm the receipt of your recent order from Cufflinks.com.  If your order is being shipped in the United States, the best way to track your order is to enter your cufflinkspremier order number at the bottom of our home page at www.cufflinks.com .   Date      Tue Nov  2 08:07:41 CST 2004 Ship to   Kenneth Pollock          Atlanta GA 30309          US United States         Bill to   Same E-Mail    KenCPollock@AOL.com (emailed) Payment   MasterCard Name               Code          Qty    Each  Options ------------------------------------------------------- Leather Cufflinks  ITL-206         1  109.00 Collector's Case                            Subtotal  109.00                            Shipping    0.00                                 Tax    0.00                               Total  109.00

Fouquet's is a trap for tourists in fact... 24th? Incredible. You must know this city better than I do, for exemple I have never been to Fouquet's (but know his reputation and prices) May be you could give me some good adresses for clothes... I will give you more details about the appointment before you leave, for the moment I can not give you a hour because up to the 22/11 I am having english lessons and do not know if it will be in the morning or in the afternoon. Thanks for all. May be you will like the box and take one for you too. Do you prefer me to give you Euros or Dollars ?

You can get that jacket shipped to France. With the strong Euro, I would really suggest doing that.

Thanks for you advice BUT shipping fees are more than USD 50 and I will pay VAT of 20% and custom right of 10% + exchange fees = that will increase the price of 50% at least If someone bring me the jacket, Euros will be all the more stronger since I will avoid all these fees. It is also a way to meet new people and may be to make some friends. And I have no credit card, I use cash and check only so Ican not buy in US

If someone wants a french stuff not available in US, he could ask, I could find it and you could take it back in US... I will set up a international traffic of clothes.

Do you prefer me to give you Euros or Dollars ?[/quote] I only ate at Fouquet's restaurant once, 20 years ago, when it had a Michelin star; it was excellent and reasonably priced. I know that it became a tourist trap later, but I hear that it has improved with the addition of the two star chef from the Hotel Martinez in Cannes. We may try it during our stay. I hear that a nearby new place named Flora is wonderful. I do not do much shopping in Paris; mostly looking. Although the selection is varied and wonderful, Paris is an expensive town and I usually buy my English clothing and shoes in London. I do want to go by Berluti, Albeladejo, John Lobb and Weston. I know that Bexley sells nice trees. I only have 6 pairs of cuff-links, but I want to see the box, in case I want one for myself. Either Euros or Dollars is ok. If you want to pay in Euros, we can use the exchange rate in the newspaper on the day we meet. I usually buy a Herald Tribune or USA Today every day.

A little off topic, but what do those of you who have dined there think of Restaurant Georges? tourist trap or fine dining?

Which one? Thereare two Chez Georges; one on Rue De Mail, where I ate, and another in the 17th, famous for its large portions of very hearty food and huge eclairs.

I was referring to the one on the top floor of the Pompediou Center...
