Facial washes

Hello I use a very good moisturizer and a very good eye cream. However, I would only use hand soap to wash my face, quick rinse that was it. I would get a zit here and there, like one every 1-2 months. But I figured since I use good moisturizer and eye cream, I should use a real facial wash, not just hand soap. I bought the neutrogena face wash. I've been using it for about 5-7 days, and I am breaking out. I have 2-3 little white heads beside my mouth, and found about 6! white heads underneath my chin last night. Usually I don't even pay much attention to under the chin/neck area. Is this common when switching facial washes for the first couple weeks, to get used to it or something? Or should I go back to the good old soap?

Sometimes when switching I break out a little more.

One that I've really had success with is Anthony Logistics Glycerin Cleaning Bar.

I use it twice daily, on my face, and it's really done a lot for me. I have a really dry cheek area and bottom half of my face, but my nose and forehead are really oily/greasy. This soap mattes the top half of my face without over-drying my already dry area. Add a little moisturizer afterward and you're good to go. Plus, it's cheaper than most comparable products, so it's not really throwing money away to give it a try.

The reason this is probably occuring is that your hand soap probably dried the shit out of your facial skin. Then the moisturizer solved the problem.
Now, your skin's natural oils aren't getting destroyed by hand soap all the time, and you moisturize without toning... result: your skin is more oily.
Either 1. get yourself a nice witch hazel toner, 2. get a less oily moisturizer or 3. go back to killing your face with hand soap. I recommend options 1 and 2 combined.

I have naturally oily skin, acne has never been a huge problem just my facial complexion can oil up quickly. Unfortunately the off the self Neutrogena and such didn't help as noted they assist with your natural oils. The happy medium I found which like you got me away from using hand soap on my face is mud soap from the body shop as well as a moisturizer foam/scrub whatever they call it which isn't oily or greasy at all.

Cool, that seems like a good explanation.
lol @ #3.
I will find a toner.

if the toner doesn't work, try using Bliss Fabulous Foaming Facial Wash. it's an every day cleanser that locks in moisture and exfoliates without stripping your skin. it's great for oily skin.

Do you use a toner only after you shave or all the time after washing face?

for oily skin, your regimen should be:

Morning Regimen:
Cleanse --> Shave (if needed) --> Tone --> After-shave/Moisturizer (preferably something with spf)

Evening Regimen:
For oily skin types: Cleanse --> Tone --> Moisturize (if needed)

^2nd on that.
Exfoliate twice a week or so at nights instead of cleansing, and you're golden.

I was coming in here to suggest glycerin soap too. Get the most gentle stuff you can. Cetaphil is also a good choice for sensitive skin. Lightly glide it over your face and then when you rinse and dry, blot your skin instead of rubbing it with a towel. Really, the less you do to your skin with soap, the better off you are.

My gf has some toner and I used that, I really like it. I ordered some, so it should hopefully be here tomorrow, because she is out of town, and I shaved yesterday and had a huge break out on my neck again, this time a bit under the chin, and about 6-8 and the base of the hair on the neck.
