Promotion that I was on the fence about applying for, but of course, having thrown my hat in, would have felt slighted if it went to somebody else.

I just sold a design publication I bought for $25 last year for $860. Fool.

Thanks for the luck guys. I haven't heard back yet, which is to be expected. He told me it would be a few days before he knew for sure and they are closed Monday and Tuesday. Still, I am nervous as hell. I have wanted to work at this place since before they even opened. Stressing hardcore right now, even though I know that there's nothing I can really do either way.

Dude, it's easily in the top 3.

I concur. It was only #7 on the San Pell 50 list last year though.

First week of the new semester, before you get crushed under the weight of expectation, pressure and 10pagers, is fucking awesome.

You mean when you're just sitting in class, trying to look down girl's shirts, getting your syllabi and then going back home and getting high and falling asleep mid afternoon?
Agreed!

I am not sure if this makes me sad or happy, but it is definitely entertaining. I am living in the middle of a real life Jersey Shore/Soap Opera. Basically, the girlfriend (call her GF1) of one of our friends has been on the case of another friend and his girlfriend (GF2) for awhile now. Last night was the last straw. We were at a bar, post-clubbing, when the topic came up of one of GF2's friends thinking I was cute, and then GF1 chimes in "Oh you could do better". GF2 loses it and storms out, followed by her boyfriend. Her boyfriend comes back a few minutes later and says that they are heading off. One of us asks why he's leaving so soon, he goes "because I am sick of her (GF1) shit. You're a bitch, fuck you" and then gives her the finger. Sorting shit out now, how to deal with our friend (GF1's boyfriend), among other things.

Kicked upstairs. I was (and will continue for a while, until a big case goes to trial or settles) personally handling or supervising my office's litigation. In the new gig, I'll be more generally supervising all investigations and litigation (from one step farther up the chain) and focusing more on policy and strategy. I'll miss being in court and having more hands-on control of the litigation (one reason I was ambivalent about applying), but will have more control over broader strategic initiatives, and my personal schedule will be less dependent on the deadlines and vicissitudes of day-to-day litigation -- which means, among other things, that I'll be more able to drop my daughter off at school and stuff like that because I won't have to worry about making an 8:30 court appearance somewhere. (And my daughter digs the fact that I'll have a bigger office.) Plus I can mark other folks down for rambling run-on sentences like that one.

Good luck with it, bro. Obviously, regardless of the outcome, it reflects well on what you've been doing.

Glad to hear that it went well but, technically, Conne isn't a girl, ya know.
