Very nice, Pio! I am impressed by your willpower to cut back on the foie and imbibery.

Thanks, guys.

Alter, eating as much foie and drinking as much wine as I want Seriously, it was just removing the simple carbs. The chain of events that unleashes is incredible. For instance, if you won't eat spuds, you don't want any burger joint. I mean, who can resist fries with a burger? Cut them out of your menu, and burger joints are verboten. On top of that, you can't eat the buns. So basically, I could eat the meat and some toppings! It's not just the simple carbs themselves (although that's a lot) but also all these corollary things that happen.

I'm enjoying. I sort of feel like Pio. Speaking of Pio - congrats on no longer being an unhealthy fatass.

I eat fairly poorly and drink on a daily basis. The fact that I've lost a few pounds in the last month mystifies me. I'm chalking it up to youthful metabolism.

yeah, that is the plan - 3 state fairs in 4 days. tomorrow is Kentucky, day after indiana.

spent the day in St Louis, had a real blast - the city museum is amazing, and loved the mounds. nothing terribly interesting to eat, but that was more our fault than the cities.

I just got off the phone after talking for about an hour with a couple of old and very close friends who I went through a lot with years ago in a country most people don't know about. First time I'd spoken to one of them in 13 years. Really got me choked up, but wonderful to reconnect after all these years, under such improved circumstances.

I'm in my favorit bar and one of the waitresses eats in front of me. Black jeans that could pass for leggins, it looks like a picture from the backdoors thread. Girl is definitively well built in that area.

What a pitty, hooking up waitresses is not one of my strengths.

The middle of October, which means I'll be a dad in right around two months.

Congrats Pio!

It is funny because both of these things are similar(ish) to what's made me feel great.

Have a long slog ahead of me today and woke up to a series of incredibly nice emails from home. They literally brought tears to my eyes just knowing how much people missed me and appreciate my company. It sounds kind of dumb but it meant so much for someone I love and care about to say "I miss you so much" and...yeah. Fuck I'm a sappy little bitch sometimes!

Also, it turns out, if you go to the gym more than you normally would, walk a ton in the heat sweating your balls off with a 40 pound pack on you, and eat less/healthier, you will lose a ton of weight. It really is a shocking formula.

It's always nice to hear that stuff from friends. A lot of my friends are hundreds of miles away in Florida, and every time we visit they try to convince us to move back there. I don't think it will ever happen, and I'm not sure they do either. Even so, it's nice to hear.

We all may try to convince ourselves otherwise, but sometimes it's nice to be reiminded that people value our company.

Glad to hear things are looking up for you, Ed.
