Lucky! My company is losing about 10 grand a day and as such we got all approved overtime taken away. Still expected to get the same work done, but we can either cram it into the 8 hours or work overtime for free. Oh well, such is life, right?

It's still a blast when you go with children. Watching them have fun is great!

One of my colleague also resigned with me. It felt like a load off my back, celebrated with my friends after work.

Yes, I agree. I intended my snarky, cynical point to be quite narrow: that as an adult, when you've come to understand that Disney's "magic" is fueled [Look away, gosurface, look away!] not by pixie dust but by marketing and leverage, Disneyland qua Disneyland can be pretty obnoxious. Plus, of course, it's crowded sometimes a bit seedy. But the derivative pleasure you get as a parent (or uncle or grandparent or whatever) from the kids' enjoyment is worth putting up with it.

FINALLY after forcing myself to not drink until turning 21, I can go out with some friends tonight and have some legal fun.

Bravo to me. Now let's get my ass drunk!

The fact that at midnight I will be purchasing my Bonnaroo 08 tickets. The fact that Bonnaroo is June 12-15th and my birthday is June 13th. The fact that if I do get this new job I won't be able to go to Bonnaroo but instead I'll be in NYC for 8 weeks starting June 1st.

I'm expecting a post tomorrow in the "Things that are pissing you off." thread that'll go something like this. "I hate myself for not drinking before I was 21. I hate alcohol. I hate hangovers....what happened last night? Fuck, I'm never drinking again."

you didnt drink until you were 21?? y??? in ontario you can drink at age 19, but obviously i and most people start earlier. think of all the fun youve missed waiting until 21?? and all the hell youll go through now learning your techniques!!!

No, that won't happen. I don't plan on getting drunk, I was just kidding in my post. Actually, I'm going to have one Jameson's 18 and maybe one beer.

The fun I've missed? Please. People who need alcohol to have fun are no fun to begin with.

I think that's ^ a sensible attitude to have, kwilk. As far as developing "techniques", my technique pretty much came down to: drink, start talking really loud, pee a lot, drink some more, hope to get home safely and not puke somewhere inconvenient. It doesn't take two years to learn.

Having to have alcohol to have fun and having fun with alcohol are two different things. Drunk people annoy me, but I love a night at the bar.

Today made me pretty happy in that I really had no obligations and could just relax. Spent the day walking outside feeding the deer, playing Audiosurf, thumbing through the new SI Swimsuit issue, listening to podcasts and drinking. 'Twas lovely.

The thought of a nice warm fire on this cold night. A nice drink, the wife and her cats snuggled in, and a good movie on DVD. Perfect relaxation after a crap-tastic week.
