The older you get the harder it gets and that doesn't refer to what you would hope

I have found that to be true, relatively speaking. When I was 30 I could drop weight really easily without doing much of anything. Now I have to be a lot more careful, and I recognize that it's only going to get more challenging in the future.

When I got home it was actually kind of fun to fall off the diet wagon and indulge myself for a couple of weeks.

So starting tomorrow it's time to get back in gear on eating right and exercising. I tend to drop excess weight pretty quickly so I'm hoping I will see decent results within a week or two. I notice today that my pants are feeling a little tight(!) for the first time, so that's a clear sign that it's time to get back on dat wagon. It has been raining really hard around here for a few days so I'm looking forward to some muddy trail runs.

Went down to leave a note on a car whose alarm had been going off all night (thankfully not on the bedroom side of my building).

Nothing too mean or anything...just alerting them that they have a shitty car alarm that gets set off by big gusts of wind and that they should do something about it before someone starts calling the cops, who will actually ticket/tow alarm offenders.

When I got down there, there was already a ticket (and a note from someone else) under their wiper shog[1].gif

not to mention can kill the battery over a long weekend.

but how funny would it be if they reset it and the car got stolen?

That is kind of a cool feeling. I have several restaurants in the area where I am a regular. A week ago I took a client to one of them. The owner stopped by and greeted me by name and asked how my daughter was doing on her mission, and on the way in/out I ran into a couple of other people I know. I found out later from a financial planner who also works with this client that the client was telling him that I was like some sort of local celebrity. We had to laugh about that.

I am a big fan of being a well regarded regular at my places. Also great for when you need a favour, like a table on a busy night last minute.

It's fine at nicer places, but as a crank misanthrope I hate it at quick-service places like coffee bars or sandwich places. When the well-meaning staff are so eager to demonstrate they know my regular order that they make it without actually listening to my attempt to order, half the time they misremember and screw it up or create all sorts of confusion and delay if I'm actually in the mood for something different. Plus they're always riding their bikes across my lawn.

The Thai place loves GF because they get to charge him the hourly rub-n-tug rate for just 3 minutes of work
