things that are making you happy - Page 3786

I got a new (to me) vacuum cleaner. I am quite happy with my purchase. I am glad I chose to buy a used baller vacuum instead of a new cheaper vacuum.

Having a 75" 4k-whatever it is screen installed on my office wall. Connected to both my computer and directly to the Netwebs.

Maybe I'll start playing WoW during office hours.

I've recently rediscovered video games for relaxing and I have to say I think it's pretty effective. It keeps you from thinking about life better than things like movies or exercise.

Video games are great until you get addicted. Like me. All throughout middle and high school.

If there's one thing I regret, it's spending so much time playing PC games during those years.

Living in Korea at the time where gaming culture is arguably the most prolific in the world didn't help.

Was never addicted and was never too much into FPS games. I will say it was fun to play Net-Quake in the late 90s at my friend's T1 when everyone else was on dial up. That was just not fair.

EQ and WoW have been my favorite but IRL always came first. WoW and instancing was really good about letting folks schedule raids. My last trip through WoW I was one of the guild's two MTs and we only raided Tuesday and Thursday nights. End game MT with that light of a commitment was near impossible with early EQ.

Ultima Online was the shit when I was a little kid. Then I moved to Counter Strike and that's what I've rediscovered. It didn't take too long to get my aim back.

Sadly, the window between the time when their server capacity was so crappy that the biggest threat to your character's life was freezing or crashing in combat and the point where they nerfed the game in an unsuccessful (I think, anyway) attempt to secure a larger, more stable "mainstream" player population was relatively short.

I stopped playing sometime shortly after Trammel came out because they said I was a previously banned user and nuked my account. My parents tried to call and get it sorted out but they refused to admit they had made a mistake. That was my first brush with the cold incompetence of the justice system.

My favorite thing was going to my one friend's house who had cable internet because you could outrun the town guards with a fast enough connection.

Don't want to get into details but just finalized some renegotiation for millions in long term debt. When I was eating ramen with ketchup taken from McDs never did I think I would write a sentence like that.

Lunch today?

A major part of my caloric intake at one point in my life. I can remember this product, canned chicken and dumplings, it would go on sale for 50 cents a can sometimes and I would spend as much as I could to stock up on them and ramen. It was a good time in my life.

The first game I got addicted to was Return to Castle Wolfenstein. It was the first online FPS game I played and I think it came out in the early 2000s. I was pretty good at it and in a clan at one point biggrin.gif

After RTCW, I got into CS (version 1.5 o shit waddup!) and crushed it. I was really good at AWPing.

Call of Duty (the OG version that started the entire franchise that has sadly morphed into the bastardization that is Modern Warfare on the Xbox today) came next and that's where the bulk of my PC gaming went in late middle school up until early-to-mid HS. I was a damn beast at that game and was very active in a clan. Call of Duty 2 dropped, too, during this time period and I miss that game dearly.

Then I got into DoTA my junior and senior year of HS. Played a little after college but college effectively ended my gaming streak.

Now I just surf the web.
