God damn so nice to be home
I just got home from a 6 day visit with my family in GA and I start a new job on Monday. Also today is my 32nd birthday.

I have no family here in SoCal other than an evil sister I never talk to. Visiting my family was wonderful and it makes me almost a little sad that I landed a job in here in SoCal. I should have moved to GA and found a job there.

Don't want to get into details but I just opened an email and found out I have landed a 500k donation for a community based, Mon-Fri program for adults with developmental disabilities. Feels pretty fucking good and these folks will greatly benefit from it.

Why don't you throw some of those monies over to the non-profit I am on the board of.

Back in college at a party this song by "The Knife" came on and I began dancing like an idiot to it. A girl's hair ended up getting caught in my tie clip and it was a disaster. That song song just came on in the cafe. (I don't wear tie clips or dance anymore).

Well, #1 is donor intent. Huge ethical and legal issues there.

Are you doing any fund raising for them?
Well, yeah kind of as much as I can, but I mostly do financial planning/accounting things for them. I have been finding it very hard to score donors. Everybody is so cheap.

For personal/foundation stuff it's all about affinity. For corporate it's about time as you need to get in front of the right person the year before as they have a budget.

Sounds like you were recruited for a specific skill. There's three kinds of board members: doers, donors, and door openers.

Id like to be involved in some fundraising though. I just don't know how to go about it.

Just wanted to share as we're sharing about wedding bands.

I only take mine off when I play solo. It'll click against stuff and annoy me.

I do take my ring off when I shower. When I got it, it was too big. I was paranoid about losing it down the drain, and it became a habit. I think it's a good idea to take it off every once in a while, so that I don't get to the point where I can't get it off anymore and they have to cut it off. Happened to my father-in-law.

Professional string players wear their rings on their right hand (bow hand). Can't tell you how many times my wife had to explain that when we were engaged.

It always blew my mind when I would see people play guitar with rings on their fretting hand. Very annoying feeling, ime.
