I don't wear my ring at home. Because of this I when I practice whatever musical instrument I'm currently wrapped up in there's no ring on my finger. When I take lessons I have to slip my ring off or it really throws me off.

Just wanted to share as we're sharing about wedding bands.

I never take my ring off for any extended period of time (like more than 10 seconds). I do, however, like to sit and twist it around my finger when I'm at my desk, like some sort of Bond villain. I will also fidget by taking my ring off, turning it the other way, and putting it back on. My hand feels weird without my ring, especially if I make a fist.

never take my ring off except to swim. i've had it slip off once mid-lap and chlorine reacts with the gold so i'm told. otherwise it stays on.

i've also had it resized like 3 times cause i'm goldilocks. i've got a slim finger but a fat knuckle. it's perfect now tho.

Like Vader, I play with my ring a lot, but I take it off sometimes when going to the gym or carrying heavy things to prevent damaging it.

@VaderDave has thumbed every post on this page except his own. That kind of thumbs generosity deserves reciprocity.

I have to take my ring off every day. If I don't, the skin under it gets really irritated.

That said, my ring is totally a social norm thing for me. I wear it because that's what you're supposed to do; it doesn't have a lot of value to me other than the fact that it's how our society signals marriage.

I've also never had an expensive ring, because I wanted to be able to wear it without fear of damaging it (and we both knew I'd probably lose it).

It turns out we were right.

I used to wear my ring everywhere until I lost one in the river after a pretty gnarly fall (the funniest part was my friend who instinctively started looking for it when I popped up and showed him that I'd lost it). Now I take it off and carry it in a small pocket on my PFD.

My replacement was like $35 on Amazon. It's titanium so it's super light and durable. It also doesn't look half bad.

Now I'm a little more picky about where I wear it but no more responsible. My current ring is sitting in the trap of my bathroom sink because I managed to drop it down there the other night while after pulling the stopper. Suffice it to say, I'll spending part of my Saturday under my sink.
