Man...I need to figure out how to get out there this season.

I mean here in chicago, I've barely seen snow...certainly not had enough to even build a snowman. (we got some once or twice...but I was out of town and it melted before I got back).

I'm headed up to Door County shortly where they just got 6 inches of snow.  Hopefully I'll get some nordic skiing in (and build a snowman)

I always hated going to Door County as a kid.  Growing up in SE WI, it was a long drive, and getting motion sick made it even worse.

3 hours for me. (new 70mph speed limits) Winter is great, no crowds.

I posted a year back or so that I was acknowledged as a contributor on a World Bank paper.  Well, one of the authors of that paper has invited me to be a co-author to another paper he wants to do.  I'm super excited because I really like working on this kind of stuff.

I'll try to do a weekend at Devil's Head in WI...not great skiing by any means, but it's an annual tradition (though gone are the days of 20+ groups of people doing it).

Hope to figure out how to either go out west, or hit up the Upper Peninsula and ski Mount Bohemia. Did that with my dad a few years ago and it was fricking awesome (except for the part where my flight home got cancelled and I had to drive with my dad to Minneapolis and fly to Chicago from there). Wouldn't want to spend a week there or anything, but they get some awesome snow, and you can definitely go a whole weekend without hitting the same line twice.

Maybe Alta/Snowbird. Flights to SLC are easy, and while I wasn't crazy about Park City/Canyons, the one day I spent at Snowbird was awesome. A relative just bought a place at some ski area in Idaho...never skied Idaho, but I wonder if we could swing a visit there.

I went to school at Michigan Tech so I know Mount Bohemia.  Its weird though that I really didnt do any snow sports back then.  I did snowmobile around a couple of times but that was about it.  I just recently (last 5 years) got into cross country skiing.  I wish I had gotten into skiing and golfing back when I was in school.  The resources around that area are great for that.

Devils Head also just got a pretty good blast of snow (from mother nature that is)

Congrats! Is this a career-booster for you? What kind of work do you do?

I can see how that would relate to the World Bank.
