Thought it was a little strange that she didn't get charged for a checked bag, and didn't quite understand what "Boarding Group: PREM" meant, but nothing actually said "First" and it was a very early flight so she had no idea.

So did she miss out on the first class security line?

You could get one of these: http://www.amazon.com/Philips-GoLITE-BLU-Energy-Light/dp/B00M3SGCUE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1448996018&sr=8-1&keywords=philips+blue+light

I have a couple of those--one for home and one for the office!

Yes, but I don't think there was a security line that time on a tuesday.

On my flight, the precheck line was preferable to the first class line. On our way back, the MSP precheck line was huge so the first class line was the way to go even if it meant doing such barbaric acts as removing laptops from bags and taking off shoes.

MSP - I have been on the receiving end of so many bonus patdowns at that place.

Wait... You intentionally boarded the plane before everyone else?

I always board as late as possible. Why sit and be trapped longer than I need to be?

(edit - my flights are usually 6-10 hours though, so YMMV if its a shorter flight)

He was flying ORD to MSP.  He spent more time watching people board than flying.

Sounds like first class. In FC they'll ply you with alcohol while you sit back and snicker at the plebes shuffling down the aisle between you
post #52825 of 57353
Exactly. Not only do you get to look down your nose, you can look through a glass of booze while relaxing in your big leather chair. Used to get warm nuts too, but I haven't seen them do that in a while.

Also, flights are so packed these days that if you need to use the overhead compartment, you'd better be in the first 50% of people boarding. but otherwise I'm with you...why rush to sit down in an uncomfortable seat.

Personal favorite in economy when you have priority boarding (through a credit card or status) is to walk up when the plane is half full and the rest of groups 3-5 are still in line. Then just stroll through the priority boarding lane and cut ahead of the line. That's the happy medium between sitting on the plane for extra time and still having overhead space for a large item.

We recently went on a cruise and had the penthouse suite. You want to talk about awesome boarding treatment? Nothing like being escorted, quite literally, past over a thousand people to the front of the line and personally walked onto the boat as the first passengers to board. If fucking rocked.

Yeah, until the rest of those thousands of people board and you realize you are on a fucking cruise ship!

The male flight attendants must have been really friendly on your flight

Can't believe you weigh that much. Damn.

It was actually not a bad experience but I think much of that was contingent upon our suite.
