You get tattoos for every check you get?  Doesn't seem like something you should need to commemorate.

And if it's a cute teller I'll tell her, if you know what I mean.

And she'll say, "We can only release 5k of that today, another 5k in four business days, and the bulk of it after 10 business days" and require her manager to come over and approve the deposit.

Take away = live cheques suck in Amerikkka.

Who doesn't have mobile deposit?

Yes, Piobsy is right. It will take a while for the full amount to be posted. I'm ok with that, I'm not about to be foreclosed on or anything.

And yes, I could deposit with my cell phone but I want to see the teller's face when she gets a load of my load.

What kind of court would appoint you to get double penetrated ? Is this because you represent sex offenders?

Fuck, thank you. I put that out there and fucking nobody else caught onto it. Thank you, HRoi.

I caught it...was just waiting for HRoi to take a swing at it.

So, not making me happy...in fact, make me sad for somebody that owns this car (obviously not the two chippies driving it), but saw this just now and I have to admit I laughed.

Two fake tanned blonde chippies driving a really nice late 60s Camaro convertible. Doing about 40 mph and the driver thought it would be a good time to hit the button and put the power fold up roof down. Yeah, you know what happened. No one hurt but OMFG what a cluster.

This has not been my experience at all. I don't pay close attention but it seems like my checks clear much faster than that and I've certainly never had a teller require manager approval for a deposit.

I just did a quick Google search and it seems it varies based on your account history and the institution you are using so perhaps I've been fortunate with my banks. Admittedly I rarely receive physical checks larger than about $4k and nowadays I deposit via mobile because it's easier, but this seems like it's really only an issue if you keep your checking account with a low balance. I guess I will pay closer attention next time because now I am curious.

http://www.federalreserve.gov/pubs/regcc/regcc.htm#delay
Quote:
For certain types of deposits, Regulation CC permits financial institutions to delay, for a "reasonable period of time," the availability of funds. A "reasonable" time period is generally defined as one additional business day (making a total of two business days) for on-us checks, and five additional business days (total of seven) for local checks; your institution may impose longer exception holds, but you may have the burden of proving that they are "reasonable."

Large deposits (greater than $5,000)--Any amount exceeding $5,000 may be held. Your institution must make the first $5,000 of the deposit available for withdrawal according to your availability policy and the remainder within the "reasonable" time frames discussed above.

Seems like my bank's policy is not too far off what the Federal Reserve website says. I might have the secondary holds not quite correct but was bang on about them releasing only the first 5k immediately. Been almost a year since I deposited my annual bonus so you'll have to forgive me on not getting the secondary timing perfectly correct.

Piob - I didn't say banks can't put a hold on deposits but they don't have to. To be more clear, Reg CC doesn't require banks to put a hold on your checks which is why it can vary.

For example, according to this article, Citibank generally clears large checks in four business days: http://www.mybanktracker.com/news/2013/11/27/long-takes-check-clear-top-10-banks/

I use a local credit union which is probably why it takes longer for the big ones. They just give such great service and benefits.

If by masturbatory purposes you mean beating the absolute living shit out of you and quite possibly killing you …. then yes, that's exactly what it's for.
