yeah, gyros isn't a greek thing, its a chicago thing. what you get in Greece is totally different. but the chicago version is pretty fucking great, anyway.

Yum, going to have to grab one of those when I'm back home in April. That and hit Dearborn for some good ME food. Good lamb shawarma with hummus and oven bread ftw.

I thought Dearborn was full of white union dudes.

Dearborn is full of brownies. Largest concentration of Arabs per capita in the country, IIRC. They all came over in the early 1900s, when there was an actual reason for anyone to be there. I think Dearborn has the largest American mosque or something like that. I dunno. Maybe Pio is returning to become a meslun.

Your detailed knowledge of flyover country will stand you well in D.C.

Precisely! Hey, if you're outside of the Beltway, you are dumb/uninformed/etc.

Continental Airlines. Thoroughly enjoyable flight from EWR to PVG. Typical American airline international flight service (read: not very friendly) but fantastic new equipment and pretty decent food. Why the hell have I been suffering UAL all these years? Might be time to change frequent flyer programs... though it's nice Conti is now part of the Star Alliance and I'm still racking miles.

I don't understand why the airlines don't start hiring attractive stewardesses again... It would make flying better for everyone. And maybe that would encourage people to not dress like disgusting slobs too.

well, as far as international flights are concerned, it's all about seniority on US-based airlines. So you get all the old hags with no more patience and a sense of entitlement, in my experience.

I wrapped up my accounting homework that was due today. A whole week of 4:30 mornings just to get caught up. Now I just have a case project to deal with, but I at least have breathing room.

Sunshine, 50 F, and the first crocuses blooming in the garden.

And the last bits of 70" of snow melting, at last.
