things that are making you happy - Page 2875

MrsG is wrapping up maternity leave in the next couple of weeks, so she stopped by her office this morning to check in and talk a bit about the details of her coming back to work. While she was there, they told her they could use any hours she could work if she wants them ASAP, basically on her terms, and then they offered her a promotion!

It's making her a little nervous, because she's very comfortable in her job now, but I think it will be good for her. My worry for her is the possibility that it could means more hours, which is not something either of us want. More than likely, however, it will just mean she has to fit more into the same-length day, something that shouldn't be tough since she's not exactly being challenged by the status quo.

I am a little irked because my new job meant the first time in our marriage that I was making more than her, and this will probably change that substantially, but I think I'll get over it when the paychecks come in. laugh.gif

Wow, that's amazing!

It really is. She's a smart woman (choice in husband notwithstanding), and every place she's worked has raved over her. We've suspected for a while now that her boss was grooming her for a promotion, but neither of us expected it to come on the heels of being out of the office for three months! The crazy thing is that the guy whose job she's taking resigned today, so they obviously want her there pretty badly.

She also, at my urging, used coming back a little early to her advantage by telling them she'd work part time starting now if they'd let her do that a week longer than if she'd done the leave as planned. That'll keep the baby out of daycare until after the holiday and give MrsG a taper into being back at work. I might try and put together a little getaway that weekend so we can have a nice family long weekend before the inevitable chaos of her returning to work.

Lol, I've received more threats than I can count and have been both shot and stabbed. Check it, yo.

Got into Charleston and had our hotel room upgraded to a view of King Street, and scored a day of reservation at Husk, which apparently is unheard of. Had an amazing dinner of strip loin and some of the wife's quail, and washed it down with some great bourbon. The celebration continues.

Nice. I never cracked Top 10. I'm surprised my parents never disowned me.

You really have a rock'n'roll lifestyle.

Cereal to me is like ice cream. I don't want a little taste of it, I want a lot of it. Anytime I eat ice cream I have a whole pint, any time I have cereal I eat a whole box. All or nothing, you ninnies.

You sure that's not because you have poor eating habits?

Thoroughly enjoying my week off from work. Woke up, walked to the cafe for a coffee, came back and made buckwheat pancakes. drool.gif
