did a long road trip from Pittsburg then Ohiopyle Pa and back to CT, with a little side trip to West Virginia along the way. its an interesting drive because of the elevation changes, and also because of how many states you pass through, PA, WV, MD, NJ, NY, then CT.
highlights of trip: almost getting into a fist fight with a guy in a pickup truck at a gas station:Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
i pulled up to the rural gas station (the kind that still have analog meters) on my way to the university of WV and this guy in a pick up truck pulls up right behind me and starts blasting his horn at me. I get out and he tells me to move forward to a gas pump so he can fill up with diesel. I inform him that my car is diesel and he gets out of his car (huge cornfed motherfucker too) and says "what did you say to me?!" and I yell right back at him "MY CAR IS DIESEL and I GOT HERE FIRST" and proceed to take the nozzle off the pump and fuel up my car. the best part was that my dogs (even the small gay one) were snarling/barking at him the whole time. He looks at the dogs and just stares at me, goes back to his car to get something and walks up to me. I'm thinking, jesus shits about to get fucking real. hands me a brand new white shop rag and say's "yeah um, you can have this to wipe your hands off, these pumps are real dirty, sorry about that".
other than that though the trip was awesome. even did some river swimming/tubing at those rapids on ohiopyle with the dogs and got sunburnt. I watched the Manny Pacquiao fight at a sports bar in WV (them cornfed WV guys LOVE pacqiao).
I confirmed that the worst drivers by far in the PA, WV, MD, NJ, NY, CT were New Jersey drivers (i saw 3 accidents, and about 10 people pulled over by state patrol in the less than 2 hours of driving through the state.
I was chuckling to myself when i saw the "New Jersey Welcomes You!" sign and there was almost immediate tailgating, simultaneous overtaking and undertaking maneuvers with no signal lights (the kind where they meet up again in the center lane and almost collide because of blind spots), guys in the right lane doing 80mph on a 55mph speed limit (all by cars with NJ plates), and then the aforementioned accidents and busy NJ state patrol cars buzzing around (with no change in driving behavior even with numerous patrol cars in plain sight).Edited by LawrenceMD - 4/15/14 at 1:03pm
