Nice. I went on a date this AM, grocery shopping/other errands in the afternoon (including a stop at the Coinstar machine...$50!). And now I'm enjoying this:

Unless your date started the moment you woke up, naked, and was a continuation of last night's date, this wasn't a date. Man. What's next in your "dating" life?

i am thinking maybe he means bushmills as opposed to jameson although funnily enough jameson was started by a Scotsman (probably a protestant) and the current master distiller of bushmills (colum egan) is catholic

Correct. Bushmills soothes the soul after a hard day.

Today I was listening to Helmut Lachenmann in my office (contemporary classical music). One of my colleagues came into my office and became confused at the sounds she was hearing. She looked around to try to figure out the source of the sounds (thought something was broken). It did not occur to her that the sounds she was hearing were music and that I was listening to it on purpose.

The new Arcade Fire album is dope.

I bought these wet wipes things that are supposed to be good for cleaning streaky, smudged computer monitors and such. Well, they are awesome. I feel like I have a new computer my monitor looks so clear.

Produced by James Murphy, it's actually quite good.

Serious question (remember that I've been with MrsG since I was 20, so I've never really done grown-up dating): What does one do on a morning date?

I streamed Arbitrage. It wasn't exceptional, but I enjoyed it.

finally got a cellphone call through with my mom. my mom, dad, and sister are all fine. the house actually is totally intact and they took in neighbors who's houses were damaged. the water is actually still running and have a lot of food. their city wasn't hit nearly as bad as Tacloban (and immediate surrounding areas), mostly major property damage.

the last couple of days have been a haze. we put out a text/call/contact brigade to find out if my parents and sister were all right, but it took until now (5 days to get confirmation).

I finally had one of those NYC'er moments where I saw an elderly couple on the 1 train and instantaly lost it and started crying in the middle of a crowded train yesterday. It was wicked embarrassing.
