I once went into an Internet-famous shirt maker to see if I couldn't get some shirts made up to fit my body. When I made my inquiries, he responded by saying "Looks of you, I don't think you can afford my creations. But I'd be happy to sell you some puhnties for your wife can probably afford that."

It was true that I couldn't afford his creations (I was just real-life trolling), but I didn't like the remark about "puhnties" at all.

I once met an internet famous suit maker. He took one look at me and said "Boy, you must be hard to fit"

I definitely cant afford one of his creations, but I do believe that he was correct in his assessment of my body (that it is funny shaped)

I hesitate to try internet MTM though...since some of what I need are more like pattern adjustments than measurment adjustments...e.g. I don't need longer sleeves, I need less fabric directly below the back of the collar because my shoulders are very square and I need more fabric in front than in back because I am relatively barrel chested.

That reminds me of a time I was getting a suit tailored by a Chinese man. He was grumbling about how my body type was difficult. He said "too sverte, too sverte!"

Hah, PS is great at BSing people into these spots. It has not come close to reaching critical mass yet, needs something that draws a crowd like LV.

You really went to a private tailor and asked for non-iron fabrics?

I think that J Crew is the only retail place that does well. Maybe Corkscrew too. I have a suspicion of where you work now.

You should know by now. I mostly keep it off the board these days, search engines and all that. If you stop by, announce yourself.
