I think my name would be good for the resourceful cat that comes up with a plan/repairs a vehicle/acquires some key supply/etc. but falls victim to the zombie disease midway through the book and is unable escape with his comrades. This would help teach the children a lesson on the harsh realities of life (like how the Redwall books always killed off some important character to make it clear that the heroes can't always be safe).

Which is pretty cool on its own; the Sea Cloud is not a typical cruise ship; it is a once-privately-held sailing yacht built for E.F. Hutton and his wife, Marjorie Meriwether Post. It was, at one time, the largest private yacht in the world:

seacloud%20image2.jpg

What is particularly cool about our family going on this cruise as paying customers is that my great-grandmother once sailed the world on this particular boat... as the help. She fled her native Scotland for the U.S. after giving birth to my grandmother out of wedlock; rejected and scorned by family and community she started a new life in the U.S., leaving my grandmother behind to be raised by an aunt back in Scotland. She found work as a nanny, and worked for the Post family, raising one of the children, and as a consequence traveled with the family aboard this same boat. We have an old family photo of her, as a young woman, aboard the ship with the child.

Years later, my grandmother followed her mother to the US, where she married and had children of her own, who had children of their own, who had children of their own (well, only one so far). To have three generations on this particular boat to live the "upstairs" experience is, I think, a pretty romantic bookend to a very American story.

++++

I'm happy these days because a convenience store is opening just outside where I live.
Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
its called "FamilyMart", a japanese chain that along with the usual convenience store crap also has cheap salads, japanese candies and chocolates, tonkatsu meals, and green tea soft serve ice cream... and the way these azns design their convenience stores makes it a nice place to walk to after getting piss drunk and grab some salty food. there is a 7-11 near us, but its crap like all 7-11's except the ones in taipei and hong kong.

A request from someone on a different forum; Karlie Kloss:

How long does it take you to do those?

The absolute joy of letting one go in an elevator. My gift to you, office building mates.

ahhh, letting it rip in an empty elevator as you go to the ground floor only to be met with a mob of idiots who have no idea what awaits them.

I did it rong the other day...let it rip as soon as I got in the empty elevator. Of course, the elevator ended up making 2 stops before reaching the ground floor, so I was standing there trying to keep a poker face while the other people were trying to keep their eyes from falling out of their sockets

I know I've told this story before but IRDGAF. I let one rip a few years ago and some really hot dame was getting on. She smiled coyly at me, stepped in and I shit you not... I saw her pause, step back, do a double take, and then reluctantly walk in.

A tip for the next retelling, Ed: That story would be a lot more believable if it didn't involve an attractive woman smiling at you.

Also, be honest, the last part usually happens to you regardless of whether there's a fresh fart in the air, doesn't it?

Naw, your mom is ugly.
