things that are making you happy - Page 2313

the dog peed on the bed. right on my side of the bed.

I guess a skunk was in the back yard in the middle of the night and the smell (it wasn't that bad but still a subtle skunk smell) got into the room. Dogs start going hog wild and barking up a storm (because of the rustling in the back yard) I get up to check the back yard and the puppy jumps up on the bed and just lets loose a nice stream of piss.

why am I happy? while the wife was cleaning the dog accident, I went to a guest room to sleep and its actually awesome to be in a room where I can just watch tv (i'm watching a larry bird/magic johnson documentary on roku/netflix), not have my blanket stolen from my wife (a habitual blanket plunderer), and dogs rustling about.

damn I might do this more often.

In other words, it's not so much the content of the judgment that makes me happy as the gesture itself.
This.

Politely asked the front-desk lady for a free suite upgrade (keyword: please) and got one.

"Thank you for being a diamond member."

Which hilton is that GF? I'm in a fight to keep my diamond status this year...looks like it's not gonna happen unless I manufacture hotel stays when I really don't need to

It's actually the Grand Hyatt in NYC. I got my Diamond status back last year when I was traveling to Denver and it's about to expire in Feb 2014, so I'm also in a rush to get enough stays to re-qualify by year-end. It definitely takes work and I'm not quite sure if it's worth it because there are other hotels in Boston that I'd much rather stay at.

But.. when shit like this happens, I guess it is worth it in the end.

One of my students told another member of my department that he finds me intimidating because I wear a suit every day and I obviously have my life together. The idea that I am intimidating seems really funny to me because that's not how I think of myself at all. Also, I do not actually have my life together; I just have the part of my life that the students see together.

Another thing I'm happy about: it is sunny today. I've been quite the grumpy Gus the last few days on account of gray skies.

It's nice. My go-to hotel when I'm in the city is the Conrad in Battery Park

I was out sneaker shopping for my niece with my niece and mother today.

With in an hour 3 people stopped me to ask about my dog and 10+ commented on him, all positive.

My niece was like wtf!, when I told her this happens all the time.

Have you considered checking in and out? kind of sucks to bring your suitcase with you every day, but if you just need a couple extra stays, just find two nearby and book them on alternating nights. I have heard that some hotels have locations where there are technically two different hotels in the same building...sometimes the desk clerk will even be willing to let you stay in the same room the whole time, while checking in and out of the two hotels each night...
