Alcohol, my two three friends, good books, wittiness, irony, over the top hilarious madness.

while i think that a really nice leather bag would technically be more in-line with what wear most of the time, i think the filson is a million times cooler, and the stiff navy twill with the wool harris tween is for me a great balance of dressy enough for when i wear a jacket and tie, and casual enough for when i wear chinos and a casual shirt.

but, it doesnt really matter to me because i primarily bought it for function and quality. its not like i walk around all day wearing it. i use it to get my stuff from point A to point B, and it will spend most of the time on the floor next to me waiting for go time.

That was pretty much my thinking as well. I've never been in a situation where it would be inappropriate. Like I said, I like nice leather briefcases, I'd just rather spend my money elsewhere. The Filson is pretty much perfect for what I wanted.

Hey gang you'll never guess what I did I finished that research narrative for my tenure application that I was bellyaching about in that other thread about things of which you are pissed off about. I mean like straight up finished it in the sense of completed it or brought it to completion.

I chipped my tooth something mighty last week. But today I got it repaired. I have been careful not to smile, but now I don't need to worry about it anymore.

Also, I had a nitrous oxide inspired insight: the lapel is one of the most ridiculous inventions of man. But also one of the most profound.

Congrats! I had to write one of those damn things for my third-year review and I recently proofread my colleague's as she's going up for tenure. Pain in the ass.

Thanks! I've actually had to write these narratives every year for retention reviews, so it wasn't as if I'd never done one. But for this specific review, they really wanted it in the form of a narrative. That drives me nuts because the information is not conveyed most efficiently in that way. In previous years, I've basically just made a list.

I didn't get anything valuable done in the first half of the day because I went to the dentist and the nitrous knocked me out for a while. But I decided to keep pushing and see if I couldn't get something done in the evening. I went into the office and got quite a bit done, of which I am happy about. Now I am enjoying a glass of port (no longer at the office).

Really a perfect summer morning here. I got up early and did some cleaning, went out to breakfast, and then to the farmer's market (which was mobbed, unsurprisingly). Sunny and no humidity. If only this could be every day.

Yesterday some fools came up to me and said "You don't have honest faith in the Lord. If you did, you wouldn't have to wear all those colognes because you'd be scented with righteousness." I replied, "What kind of locution is 'scented with righteousness?' I'll tell you what kind, it's the kind a gay would use. You're the one who doesn't have honest faith!" They got flustered straightaway and had to admit I had the right of it.
