the wife leaves for a two week work/vacation trip tomorrow. I get to move to the new house myself. Normally that sucks, but avoiding spousal irritation/argument throughout the whole move - and using professional movers is actually a reason for me to relax.

Plus a good friend is arriving on the weekend. We get to hang out and if I get a couple days off mid week next week even may be able to cram a little road trip in too.

no lies, that sounds like a pretty chillaxing situation, doc.

This is the first year that my son is aware enough to really "get" them (and up late enough to see them), and I've been eagerly awaiting the bugs' arrival so he could see some. I noticed last week that there were some in my neighborhood, so on Saturday I told him we were going to go out after dinner to see some bugs whose "bottoms light up." We had a blast! He was totally into it. I brought a Mason jar to put them in, and we were "lightning bug hunters" searching the neighborhood.

I saw a father and son catching fireflies in a jar it was a heartwarming sight.

I'm happy because the wife and I bought a house. It'll be nice to have some space, a yard, and less congestion, but damn I'm going to miss Brooklyn. Connecticut here we come.

Is this a reference? The original "money pit" movie, "Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House", is about a couple moving from NYC to CT smile.gif

it was love at first sight when we saw the house on saturday. really quick response and we closed on Monday.

I'm bummed about leaving. We went to the nearby "fun spot' area called SoNo (south norwalk) and there were some cute hipster girls in thick glasses, some even on bikes. But I realized it was just regular folks riding bikes who actually needed prescription lenses.

it just wasn't the same.

Hey, didn't I offer to sell you my sister's place? She's right over the Norwalk line in Wilton, off of Route 7. Too bad, they're motivated sellers smile.gif

If you're near SoNo, then you're also close to ShoeMart. Was that a big factor in your decision?

BTW there is a great little place to get arepas in Norwalk, the Valencia Luncheria. I make it a point to eat there pretty much whenever I'm in town.

I can see why people dislike them because I go long stretches of time not being interested in their music. It often has a sedative mood to it, and sometimes the instrumentation is just too thin, so I can't listen to it often like I can many other bands. But periodically it just hits all the right notes when I'm in an energetic mood and I immediately appreciate how pleasantly quirky some of their best songs are. Abbey Road is also my preferred album.

I think it's just the familiarity of the songs that turns people against them. It's easy to take them for granted because in a sense, every rock band after them was either trying to recreate what the Beatles did or trying to be as unlike the Beatles as possible. But when someone says "the Beatles weren't as good as their contemporaries" I file him under "doesn't know what he's talking about". The Beatles set the standard for all of those contemporaries.

^ fireflies - last week my daughters and I ran around a park catching fireflies, it was a blast.

I am in one of my favorite cities, in a hotel room with the money shot view. I just had a fantastic meal with two pretty good manhattans and a fantastic bottle of wine and some of the best lamb chops I've ever had, a very hot milfy woman flirted with me at dinner, then took a long walk with a very nice torpedo cigar. all expensed, of course.

HK, GT?

Lots of women flirting with me today, which is very unusual, the trio of teeny boppers especially so. I must be having a good swag day.

You can't even make the "not like the men who usually flirt with you" joke, because I'm getting to be too old for the average lecherous old queen to bother herself with. frown.gif

I dig the more raucous (relatively speaking) vibe of Let It Be.

Tomorrow I leave for a roughly two week long trip!
