things that are making you happy - Page 2186

I just hit my head on one of the lights in my kitchen. The bulb had burned out a long time ago in that light, but it's such a pain in the ass to change it that I didn't bother to replace it. But when I hit my head, the light turned back on. Then I hit a second light that's just like the first (not with my head though), and it turned on too.

We got our little econobox!

It's definitely an economy car, but it will do for a couple of years, which is all we need from it.

I drove it to work today, but I have to admit that I'm glad MrsG will be taking it over once we get it set up with the car seat. Economy cars ride like shit! laugh.gif

I saw a father and son catching fireflies in a jar it was a heartwarming sight.

I'm happy because the wife and I bought a house. It'll be nice to have some space, a yard, and less congestion, but damn I'm going to miss Brooklyn. Connecticut here we come.

It was a lot of fun catching those bugs. Doing stuff like that, passing down memories and experiences you enjoyed as a child, is one of the best parts of being a father.

Congrats on the house!

I do alright. Making sure he has a breadth of experiences and memories is one of the things I do best.

That filibuster in texas was epic.

I caught the live stream near the end, a little bit before the final warning that stopped her talking.

Honestly, the debate could have been about anything, because it was just combative parliamentary procedure.

The Lt. Gov got his decision to end the filibuster appealed, so some other guy had to start running the show (and he was clearly unprepared for it). Then there were a ton of rules questions, and digging into the rule books. I feel like the replacement chairman made some blunders (although they may have been intentional...hence his refusal to go back and review the transcript), but that just made the show more exciting.

Honestly, I don't even know what happened. The crowd was going wild and I thought they were calling a vote on the matter. I couldn't tell what the outcome was and I was confused because it was after midnight when the session should have ended. From this morning's news, it looked like they were trying to vote but the vote did not go through. Will be interesting to read followup coverage on this to see whether or not the proper procedures were followed.

My brother went to see a tailor in DC who tried to talk him into 17" hems (with an 8.5US shoe). He used the sartorial confidence and knowledge I gave him to turn down that suggestion.

This reminded me of my little brother. He has a red Dodge Ram with tan interior and oversized tires, although his truck is rarely not covered in mud or filled with duck decoys in the bed.

Getting married Saturday.

Wearing:

Suit: RLPL - its kind of a glenplaid/POW pattern
Shirt: Nordstrom white point collar, herringbone pattern
Tie: MTO Sam Hober purple grenadine
Socks: Purple houndstooth
Shoes: Black AE 5th ave

Not sure if I'm going to wear a PS or not - what is the protocol with a boutonniere?

Somebody else mentioned this, but what the fuck is it with weddings and purple these days?
I dunno, the color is in. I'm a huge Washington Huskies fan (colors purple and gold), so I said I'd go with the purple as long as the other color could be gold icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif

and for the record, the RLPL suit was not bought for the label to coordinate with the wedding colors satisfied.gif
