Now all we have left is the Dos Equis guy.

I think that getting fired from your own company is worthy of a things that are pissing you off post.

not a fan of MW exactly, but i feel bad for the dude. he is an icon of TV voice.

I know someone who did some business with Zimmer and by his account he's a hell of a guy

I'm just trying to picture the corporate structure. An "executive chairman" is over the CEO, involved in operations, and presides over the BoD. It's not like a regular chairman that really has no operational role. It's like AOL firing Steve Case. I don't quite understand the mechanism for him to be fired.

piob - i was wondering the same thing. how they have it structured for that to happen.

munch - yeah, say what you will about MW and the cheesiness.... but he has always struck me a nice guy.

Presumably a majority of shareholders could vote him out, no?

Something must have happened...will probably come out eventually.

From the article it sounds like their stock was way up and revenues were increasing, so what does a CEO have to do to get fired in that situation?
Im guessing he did something sketchy/illegal, possibly unrelated to the company, that will come out soon.

I wonder how many voting shares he controlled? And why would shareholders toss a guy that just got you 30% capital appreciation in the last year? Also, just based on my penny-ante employment contract, it costs an organization a fuck of a lot to fire their head executive. It had to be something major.

My guess is that the suit-wearing public got wind of the SF ethos, and that guarantee was about to cost them an enormous amount of money.

It probably has something to do with his alcoholism.

According to the news report I just read, he had 3.5% of the company.

As far as what got him thrown out, I am guessing there's something we don't know. Maybe he was embezzling, or insider trading, or did something unspeakable in his private life that we will find out about in due time. Or maybe that 30% number is based on cooked books, and they just found out. Who knows?
