I've driven in San Francisco, Manila, Singapore, Bangkok, LA and Boston those are stressful cities to drive in. But nyc isn't as bad. It's just the parking garages are more expensive. Once you've got a little experience on where to street park nyc is pretty easy to drive around in.

i can't stand the drivers in NYC that lay on the horn the very moment traffic gets dodgy.

you brought this on yourself by deciding to drive in a city where a car is totally unnecessary and often times the worst method of transportation.

.

In Asia and India they lay on the horn just to say hello. There's a Barcelona or Rome trip for the wife and I in late August maybe. I can't wait to try driving there.

Seriously. Livery car drivers are the worst. The moment the light turns green, they start honking, even if they are 10 cars back. Chill, dude.

I saw a guy honking the other day behind a trash truck. Seriously? You're the one who opted to stay behind him--he's not going anywhere. Dumbass.

Making me happy today is the weekend starts at 3p. A three martini happy hour then home to Mrs. Piob to grill steaks and drink some wine. icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif

Have Sunday reserved to do some cooking that will include a big batch of rillettes. smile.gif

black car cabs are the absolute worst. I've seen more accidents involving those cars than any other, and given how terrifying yellow cab drivers actually drive, that's saying a lot. The condition of black cab cars just about sums it up.

I forget if I posted this or not, but a few weeks ago, I saw a black cab try to flee the scene of an accident. The dude rear ended a cab, not severely, but enough to require police/insurance attention, and immediately he turned down my street to flee, nearly hitting 5 pedestrians as he did so. Fortuantely, or at least for my satisfaction, an undercover NYPD car was not far away from it all, and they caught up to the guy, and a whole scene evolved. I don't know how it ended, but clearly this guy is too dangerous for NYC streets.

Ugh. That is ridiculous.

Bus drivers are pretty bad too. Cant even count the number of times I've seen a bus driver blow right through a red light without even slowing down.

there was no beating up. The whole situation would have been much more satisfying for me had there been an actual black cab driver beat down. NYC would have celebrated.

I would have paid to watch that.

Making me happy: I do not have to deal with NYC traffic, NYC livery drivers, NYC humidity, nor NYC cost of living.

You should find a copy somewhere online...the first season was really really good. It was what people wanted the american one to be after the first couple episodes. Just make sure you get the one with the BBC subtitles; the subtitles on the non-bbc version are...bad.

I don't know what kind of games that thing has (and its probably a dumb sham)...but I think there have been studies showing usefulness of things like dual N-back programs. It seems like they are not lasting benefits since they fade if you don't keep practicing...but I suppose its kind of like working out. If you can improve someone's adhd or short term memory for a few months with a couple weeks of regular use, that's no worse than improving someone's ability to lift heavy objects with a few weeks of regular training (and that ability will evaporate after a few months of not training).

I hate when people honk from a few cars back. They have no idea what is going on up front.

What if somebody dropped a baby in the crosswalk and the cars in front were politely waiting? Then Mr. Honkypants would be a real asshole.
