Very important question.

What's the hate on brunch?

I feel like it's one of those things that people find cool to hate on.

Brunch serves a very functional purpose, IMO.

Which is what?

Well, I've only had brunch two times in my entire life, and those two times were in NYC while I was visiting friends.

After a night of heavy drinking and partying, we'd all wake up and grab breakfasty food at 11 AM - Noon-ish and nurse our hangovers.

Seems like a harmless activity to me.. don't get why everyone hates it confused.gif.

i don't mind big waits or big lines or crowded dining rooms to enjoy awesome food and drink at 9 PM.

i can't stand that when it's 11 AM to 1 PM on a Sunday afternoon and the flip side is an egg dish and a mimosa. That type of stupidity is for those who just moved to NYC and think that brunch is hot. I hope they love it.

I know New Yorkers think everything they do is specific to them, but I've never lived anywhere where brunch would be considered a novelty. I loved cheesy brunch places as a kid because you could get things like pizza, crab legs, and cheesecake for breakfast.

bring your kids to a day game sometime soon. I didn't like baseball until I hit high school, but my dad took me and my brother randomly to Red Sox games and even Pawtucket Paw Sox (the AAA Minor League Red Sox Team) and it was a magical experience as a kid: The grass on the field, the scraggly fans, the swearing/beer/peanut shells/cotton candy makes you feel like you stepped into a 1950's technicolor movie.

He cheered for the Red Sox in the early 70's as a new immigrant in Boston and learned how the game was played on the fly. The weird part was how he never announced that the brother and I were going to a game... just would put us in a car and bring us there.

I watched my first baseball game 3 years back at at&t park and I loved the experience. I don't even like sports in general and I couldn't care less about baseball but there is something about seeing it live, seeing all those "rituals" the fans do, the food and beer, and meeting the regulars in the area I was sitting in. I'd definitely watch again when I'm back and baseball is in season.

you stupid basterd. that was me, and I gave you my number after telling you I'm in town and we should meet up when you're not wasted.

a lady that used to work for us as a housekeeper/nanny then left and moved to some arab country is back in town, and we let her stay in our place for free while she's sorting out her job options. obviously she got to learn arabian cuisine; and sometimes she cooks for us and right now I'm enjoying a fucking mean dish of beef biryani.... so, so good!

Mimosas at brunch are pretty stupid.. they're overpriced and don't even get you tipsy / drunk.

I equate brunch food with breakfast food -- isn't it a universal human condition to crave greasy breakfast food when you're hungover as fuck?

yes, it's universal to crave. We get it delivered and prefer to just relax for a while.

it's the plebes that make a novelty and and an event and an OpenTable reservation out of it.

Well, I've never seen people make an actual event out of it.

For us, the time it has taken us to decide what to eat, to then go to the place, sit down, and start eating usually spans around 30 minutes. Quick and easy.

My brother and his fiancee have two dogs, one whom I've met many times and one whom I've met just once. Well just the other day the two dogs sent me a topiary dog via FedEx. Now I own a topiary dog (whereas I previously did not).
