I bet you could find food she'd enjoy. For what it's worth, when I go to Savannah, I can't think of a single trip to Savannah where I've eaten typical Southern fare, mostly because I can get it where I live, and there are other options.
If you'll be in the ATL, I could definitely be convinced that a meet-up should happen. Always nice to meet another SFer.

It won't be too bad. May is sort of the beginning edge of oppressive heat season, especially for those who aren't used to it, but you should be alright. I hope you have fun (and stay cool)!
