Mr G, good luck!



I had a great weekend - I went off to a family retreat with my synagogue to some camp out in the middle of nowhere. it was a lot more fun than I thought it would be. what was very cool was that 4-5 people came up to give me serious complements on various things, mostly on my parenting. I have to say that I really enjoyed it.


by the way shibbel - you reminded me of somethign that happened to me this weekend. my 6 year old daughter saw something that said "Palestine" on an old poster about israel. so she asked about Palestine - one of her best friends is Palestinian. so I told her that israel is in a place that used to be called palestine, and that there is a people called palestinians, and that there has been a lot of fighting over how to divide the land, but that now people are trying to figure out how to divide the land in a fair way, but that it hasn't been able to close yet, and, of course, the fact that our people and her friend's people are arguing over borders of their land's halfway around the world shouldn't change anything about her friendship. I could have been alittle more elequent possibly, but it hit me by surprise.

I'm happy that the snow this weekend actually brought people outside. The parks were just so full of people. i had saturday off and I think the wife/dog/and I was outside from 7am until 10pm and went inside to just eat.

It was a really awesome feeling to have the manager (literally) slap me on the back and congratulate me on a job well done. I get very, very little positive feedback where I am (our organizational culture is terrible), so it was nice to know I still have mad skills. Plus, like I said, if I don't get the offer, I can be at peace knowing I couldn't have done anything more to nail it.

It sounds like they want to hire someone quickly, so I should have an idea as to what's going on relatively soon, which is good because I'm really anxious find out if I got it. The job itself looks fantastic. However, I'm having a little bit of trouble getting a read on the salary, so I have this terrible fear I'm going to get an offer only to end up in a deadlock on that front. We'll see what happens, but I just want to know!

I had a charcuterie plate made almost entirely from duck not too long ago. It had a bunch of preparations that are traditionally made from pork, and it was amazing.

When we went to Michael Symon's Lola Bistro part of the charcuterie plate was duck speck and duck prosciutto. Both were amazing but no doubt would fall short of our resident europhile's standards.

sounds great, i hope you do get it. and i guess even if the money is the same, it would be worth it just for the better atmosphere?
